Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.

I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I was born in Adelaide and we moved-out for Angle Vale for a few years until I was about 7 years old, when we moved to the Barossa Valley where I live now. I'm 19 years old and currently traveling back and forth weekly as I'm studying for a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

    Contributing Writer
Nathan's passion for motorsport first began in the late 1980s, captivated by the season in which Aryton Senna won his first F1 title with McLaren. Over the years his interest widened to include the British Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, NASCAR and various other forms of motorsport. Nathan began sim-racing in the mid 1990s using games developed by Papyrus. He later moved onto SimBim simulations such as GTR, GTR2 and GTR Evolution and has most recently joined the iRacing community.

When he's not working or sim racing, Nathan enjoys spending time and relaxing with his family. Other hobbies include going to festivals, tinkering with his car and doing up his house.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

He hails from Fort Smith, Arkansas where he is currently enrolled at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, after which he plans to attend the University of Arkansas to earn his MBA. Although he enjoys watching and playing basketball, most of Jordan's focus is on motorsports, particularly NASCAR: "Anything that burns gas and goes fast, I like."

    Contributing Writer
Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

How to Make Your Indy 500 Last More Than 500 Meters

Note:  Brent Pesel (Great Plains) has been writing an entertaining blog about iRacing for quite some time.  Here’s a teaser of his latest offering on how to go the distance in this weekend’s iRacing.com Indy 500.  Click here to read the complete blog . . . One of the most notable events of the iRacing service is upon us: the iRacing.com Indy 500.  This is the reason that many people on the service purchase the Indycar in the first place.  The goal people have in this race is to just finish the 500 miles.  Here are some tips that will hopefully help you achieve that.  It may not help you get the milk at the end of the race, but you can’t win the race if you don’t finish. My First Time… a Late Models Virgin

by Ray Kingsbury on May 22nd, 2013

Our intrepid contributor forces it three wide into Turn One.

Since I started covering the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Tour for inRacing News, I have found it difficult to get content from racers for my articles as many of the Late Model regulars were unaware the series is being covered (despite regular posts to that effect on the Late Model forum – Ed).  So I decided it was about time I bought the Late Model content and gave it a try myself. My first experience would be New Hampshire Motor Speedway in a small, nine person race.  Luckily for me, 2013 S1 Late Model champion Ty Majeski was there and willing to give me his race setup so that I could hit the ground running. At New Hampshire there isn’t much of a challenge to being at a decent pace, [...]

Circle Track School: Lessons From A Champion

by George Wood on May 22nd, 2013

Tony Stewart: A champion's champion.

The great thing about going to the local short track is that you’re never really sure who is going to show up, and especially so when it’s a special event. Here in Pennsylvania, my local track, Selinsgrove Speedway, hosted their annual 358/360 Sprint Car National Open last week, drawing several touring drivers as well as some from Canada, Michigan, and New York. However, the biggest surprise of all came from Indiana. Tony Stewart decided to fly up to the track from Martinsville, Virginia, to have some fun and race against the Pennsylvania sprint car drivers around a moderately banked and wide surface that is considered the fastest on the East Coast. With qualifying speeds expected to be around 17.5 seconds on a cold April night, everyone was excited about the [...]

Rhyne Romps at Rockingham

by Tom Moustakas on May 21st, 2013

Lionel Calisto (California), pursued by the field, heads off into Turn One at “The Rock.”

After kissing walls last week at Darlington Raceway, the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (fixed setup) traveled to Rockingham Speedway for Week 3 of the season. Races were set for 50 laps around the famed 1.017 mile oval. Located in North Carolina, NASCAR enthusiasts love Rockingham for its nostalgia; the track held Sprint Cup races from 1965 to 2004, and was known for providing good, hard racing. After an eight-year NASCAR hiatus, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returned to “The Rock” in 2012, creating a buzz among fans who were excited to see racing back at Rockingham. Although racing in any higher NASCAR series may not be in its future, iRacers were able to relive the glory days of Rockingham by racing there this past week. Similar to Darlington, [...]

Keister & Laughton Claim Charlotte

by Jordan Hightower on May 21st, 2013

Week 3 Charlotte P1

After a very tough week in Darlington, drivers of the NASCAR iRacing Class C Fixed Series were happy to get out of Darlington and head into North Carolina for a visit to Concord, North Carolina and the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The 1.5-mile speedway produces some of the best racing that the iRacing.com service has to offer. The Silverado mixed with the fast speeds that Charlotte Motor Speedway produces always provides a great race for everyone involved. Nearly 2,800 sim racers (wow!) watched the green flag fall for at least one racing during Week Three in the NiCCF. Kollin Keister (Atlantic) has been on a tear the past couple weeks, winning the Strength of Field event the past two weeks. Keister started from outside of the front row and led 13 [...]

Moreira Extends CTC Lead

by Katier Scott on May 20th, 2013

49
Oulton Park was a magnet for CTC competitors.

Nuno Moreira took full advantage of a faltering return to the series for ex-champion Gernot Fritsche to extend his lead at the Oulton Park circuit in England.  A superb 221 point haul bolstered his advantage over Luca Zanetti to 52 points while several drivers found Turn One (Old Hall) of this classic race course to have race-ending tendencies. Fritsche wasn’t one of those, however as he waited until Knickerbrook to crash out after a misjudgement with an other driver. Kevin Law was another star of the walking moving up seven places to 4th overall with an excellent 187 point haul, while Michel Dudognon’s 167 gained him 10 places to move inside the top 10 to 8th overall.  Ramon Sprecher was unfortunate to fall the other way, despite a solid 109 [...]

Velkov Takes Interlagos, Giang to Lead

by Matt Kingsbury on May 20th, 2013

62
The IndyCars descended on Interlagos and Sao Paulo for Week 2,

In the second week of the iRacing.com IndyCar Road fixed series we visit the track between lakes, aka “Interlagos” aka Autódromo José Carlos Pace. The track consists of fifteen turns over a 2.676 mile river of asphalt draped over the grassy hills overlooking São Paulo, Brazil. The famous open wheel venue saw 143 drivers take the track in their Dallara Indy cars, each one hoping to take the week’s top score. One driver proved worthy of the task and managed to take the win of a 1848 strength of field race that saw 25 drivers take the grid and nine finish on the lead lap. Peter Velkov (C-E E) was that man, as he started in the first position and never looked back. Velkov lead all 27 laps of the [...]

Nilsson Dominates in Silverstone

by Kenneth O'Keefe on May 20th, 2013

80
The iGPS returned to familiar ground for Week Two.

Week Two brought the pilots of the iRacing.com Grand Prix Series to Silverstone Circuit, located in Towcester, Northamptonshire, UK.  The 3.194 mile (5.14 km) Grand Prix circuit features 17 famous turns, some of which have been attacked by F1 cars since the late 1940s. As Silverstone is a fixture on the iGP Series schedule, many drivers have a good handle on the circuit.  Yuho Abe (Asia) was the best of them with a blistering qualifying time of 1.20.778, followed by Martti Pietilä (Finland) and Ricardo Castro ledo (France). Despite their great qualifying times, none of these drivers could out-score Tommy Nilsson (Scandinavia) with 280 points.  In his first appearance in the last three months, Nilsson started from the second position but moved into the lead quickly on the first lap.  [...]

Homestead Sweet Homestead

by Matt Kingsbury on May 20th, 2013

Doyle led 75 of 100 laps to edge ? ? and ? at Homestead.

In the second week of the iRacing.com IndyCar Series Oval series we visit Homestead Miami Speedway, a 1.5 mile oval consisting of four turns of 18 to 20 degree banking and lined with palm trees behind its ocean-colored walls. Throughout the week many drivers talked of a bump exiting the corners that made the car feel light and possibly ending a race. In total, over a thousand cars took to the track in both series to see who would be able to master the course and leap to a points lead. This week looked quite familiar at first with the faces of Tim Doyle (Atlantic) and Jonathan Goke (Mid-South) both leading out a series in the points. However this week in the iRacing.com IndyCar Open Oval Series it was Doyle [...]

Hamstead Stands Tall in Atlanta

by Dylan Sharman on May 20th, 2013

107
Hamstead emerged from a tense early battle to claim the win at Road Atlanta.

The iRacing.com V8 Supercar Series stayed in the States for Round Two as drivers and teams took to Road Atlanta.  Last week’s record number of 135 drivers was backed up with another 128 sim-racers traveling to Georgia for Week 2. Qualifying was led by Richard Hamstead with a lap at 1:21.044 to grab the pole position with Madison Down just .029s behind. Justin Ruggier and Adrian Stratford would qualify on the second row with Mitchell McLeod and Josh Muggleton from the third row. John Emerson and Shaun Kelly started from the fourth row with Brad Ryan and Matthew Hill rounding-out the top 10 qualifiers. Hamstead led the field into Turn One for the first time and, with Down hung-out on the outside, Ruggier was able to sneak by and move [...]

Story by James Prostell Jr. SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, BELGIUM – Turn 1 at Indianapolis. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s corkscrew. Monaco’s Nouvelle Chicane. All thousands of miles apart, all on very different racetracks, but share some distinct characteristics that highlight the essence of auto racing – risk versus reward.. Get these turns right and the driver can shave precious time off their lap or set up that critical pass. Get it wrong, and well, the team is going to be spending time fixing a vehicle that spiraled as it dropped a few stories or crashed hard into the wall. Add two words to that list of challenging turns – Eau Rouge. Only get it wrong here, and repairs will have to be made to a car that spiraled up a few stories and [...]

iRacer Profile: Matthias Witte

online racing

It’s getting better all the time for Matthias Witte.  The iRacer from Soltau, Germany has steadily improved his sim-racing performance since joining the service in 2010 and, in the past few seasons, his name has become a fixture in the top ranks of the iRacing.com Radical Challenge.  2012 Season 3 saw him finish fifth in the overall points race and, the following season, Witte collected his first Radical wins – seven to be exact – en route to second place behind David Unger in the Division 2 standings and another P5 overall.  Last season saw Witte winning at a .500 clip (fifteen victories in 30 starts) while finishing runner-up to Audrius Valantiejus both in the overall reckoning and Division One. So far in 2013 S2, Witte’s win rate is a [...]

Lampela Leads at Langley

by Scott Kelly on May 17th, 2013

13

After a week of high speeds at Phoenix International Raceway, it was time to dial it down for Week 2 of the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series (2013 S2). This week, the sprints would hit their first short track of the season – Langley Speedway. Just over 1/3 of a mile, Langley has been the host of many thrillers in the iSCS. With the low groove being the preferred lane by far, a game of patience is played out each event that is held at this track, and it’s no different with the sprint cars. With 7-time iSCS champion Alan Binder taking a break for the week, a new challenger would have to step up to the plate to make some ground on the King. Fred Lampela took that charge, etching [...]

Late Models Tap the Inner Irwindale

by Ray Kingsbury on May 17th, 2013

91
Steven Burnett as he crosses the line in his Late Model at Irwindale’s Inner Oval.

For Week Two the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Series headed to Irwindale Speedway’s “Inner” configuration.  Irwindale is considered the home of short track racing in the Los Angeles area and surely the Late Model boys would not disappoint. The track is a four-turn oval with zero degrees of banking, just a third of a mile long but plenty long enough to ensure some action with sim-racers taking their tire-hungry Chevy Monte Carlos to the track. On this flat track, who could best keep their tires within a reasonable heat range, in both the front and the rear? The week’s 2874 strength of field race found Bill Tomer on the pole position followed by Jay Walker, Clay Jones, Raymond Emmons, and Simon Morrsion.  Tomer would go on to lead 13 laps [...]

Earning Their Stripes

by Chris Owens on May 17th, 2013

66
None but the bravest Class B racers accepted the challenge of The Track Too Tough to Tame.

With the restrictor plates gone, the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series headed east to “The Lady in Black,” aka Darlington Raceway in the Pee Dee region of South Carolina for the second week of the season.  Darlington is known for its tight racing and tight corners.  It’s not often that a driver walks away from a race at Darlington without a scratch on his car.  This old racetrack will reach out and give even the best sim racers a “Darlington Stripe.” With that in mind, it’s no surprise that Darlington generally has the lowest turn-out of the season.  Rather than risk a loss of Safety Rating, many drivers opt to sit the week out.  While a majority of drivers were sitting on the sidelines, 164 sim-racers took to the 1.366 [...]

The Importance of Practice

by Jonathan Wimbush on May 17th, 2013

279
Fourth in Division 1 standings, Nathan Moore leads the field to Turn Two at Laguna Seca.

Week Three is well underway in the iRacing.com Global Challenge Series as racers battle for top honors at Mid-Ohio. Early excitement and frustrations arise as the first quarter of the inaugural season nears its completion. Many top division drivers are enjoying strong finishes while others can’t seem to get themselves away from on-track trouble. The switch to open setup and the multi-class racing format are added challenges to newcomers with limited time to practice, or those who have limited knowledge of setup tweaking. On the other hand, top division drivers have been waiting for a chance to race the Cadillac CTS-V with an open setup. Part of what makes the iRacing.com Global Challenge Series so exciting to run is the fact that Rookie 4.0 drivers can race on track with [...]

Hughson and Leonetti Shine at Jefferson Reverse

by Joe Pisciotta, Jr. on May 16th, 2013

102
Week 2 of 2013 S2 saw the iRNC tackle Summit Point's Jefferson "Reverse" layout.

The inRacing News Challenge Multi-Class series made the trip in Week 2 to West Virginia to conquer Summit Point Raceway’s tricky Jefferson road course in its “Reverse” configuration.  This short track boasts two long drag racing type straights with hairpins at each end.  Miss your braking points here and you’ll be so deep in trees the guys from TV Show “Ax-Men” won’t be able cut your car out. Last week we had a new name sitting on top in Solstice even as the reigning Mazda Champion continued his dominance.  This week at Summit Jefferson some familiar names dropped in the standings and new drivers emerged. Pontiac Solstice Ilham Halabi (Asia), who had an impressive 252 point race win in Japan last week, remains the overall point leader in Solstice.  Halabi [...]

Lambert Dances with “The Lady in Black”

by Tom Moustakas on May 16th, 2013

78
Logan Cathcart leads the field in a NASCAR Class A Series (fixed setup) race at Darlington.

Week 2 of Season 2 found the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (fixed setup) at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. Drivers piloted their Chevrolet SS and Ford Fusion Gen-6 machines around the tricky 1.366 mile egg-shaped oval in 50-lap online races. This track is incredibly line sensitive, as it requires technique and finesse to stay in the preferred groove. Drivers take Turn One off the throttle and let it roll up towards the wall, then drive it back down the hill off of Turn Two. Avoiding the wall is not exactly easy, as bumps near the wall in Turns One and Two enjoy tossing cars into the outside SAFER barrier. Drivers can take a few different approaches entering Turns Three and Four, although the top lane is preferred due to [...]

Self-inflicted Injury

Self-inflicted Injury

There are always lessons to be learned in life.  Day-by-day, event-after- event, whether it’s a competitive sport or just learning from an everyday experience, it seems there’s always something new we can teach ourselves.  I’ve been racing for about 13 years now and I feel I’ve seen, experienced and learned almost every aspect or dynamic of the sport. But Saturday night at Stockton 99 Speedway, I proved myself wrong and showed myself that there is still plenty of room to learn. I came in to this 2013 race season with one goal: the 2013 NASCAR K&N West Series championship.  This meant finishing in the top five consistently, and never finishing outside the top 10.  The Golden Gate Racing Team and I started that run flawlessly with a third place at [...]

Champions Interview: Ty Majeski

by Ray Kingsbury on May 15th, 2013

100
Majeski captured 58 wins en route to the 2013 S1 Late Model Tour title.

Ty Majeski is a racer, both on the iRacing.com simulation as well as in real life. I had the opportunity to catch up with the young, yet decorated driver and talked to him about his career thus far. Though highly successful on the real tracks, Ty also has managed to capture the 2013 Season 1 NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Tour in dominating fashion, scoring 58 wins in 64 starts to outdistance Kollin Keister and Ron Hagolin in the points race. . That being said here is your opportunity to get to know a little bit more about him! Q;    How did you get started in the sim-racing world? What is your biggest accomplishment? What are your plans for the future? A:    I started my sim-world and iRacing.com career in February [...]
