Shane Hmiel didn’t regret stopping for tires during the USAC K&N Silver Crown Series Hoosier Hundred halfway intermission as he stormed back through the field to capture the biggest race of his USAC career Friday night at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Jimmy Owens topped Friday’s preliminary night for the 18th annual DART Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. Owens set fast time and won his heat race to earn the pole for Saturday’s main event. Terry Phillips, Don O’Neal, Earl Pearson, Jr., Dale McDowell and Billy Moyer won their respective heats while Wendell Wallace captured the 12-lap race of champions.
