Red Bull: Button’s form will hurt soon
August 31st, 2009
Red Bull Racing’s team principal Christian Horner says Jenson Button cannot afford to continue with his streak of poor results if he is to win the championship this year. The British driver won six of the first seven races of the season but has not been on the podium in the last five and retired for the first time at the Belgian Grand Prix last Sunday. Team-mate Rubens Barrichello is now 16 points behind, with Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel 19 adrift.
Force India warns Spa was no one-off
August 31st, 2009
Force India has warned rivals that Giancarlo Fisichella’s stunning drive in the Belgian Grand Prix was not a one-off, as it sets its sight on a repeat performance in Italy next week. Fisichella took Force India’s maiden pole position at Spa-Francorchamps, and then battled with Kimi Raikkonen for victory – only losing out after KERS helped his Ferrari rival blast past him on a safety car restart. It is the consistent pace of the Force India during the race that has raised hopes about the potential of the car and, with Monza’s low-downforce configuration set to play to the VJM 02′s strengths once again, the team is not ruling out another front-running performance there.

Villeneuve first led the race on lap 16 when leader Marcos Ambrose pitted and the French-Canadian stayed out to try to get on a better sequence, although his gamble didn’t pay off as planned due to the timing of the caution periods.
