The Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) is planning a raft of environmentally friendly regulation changes in the coming seasons to slash emissions and increase fuel efficiency. The body has received the results of an environmental research analysis of Formula 1, and is confident that it can cut carbon emissions by more than 12 per cent in the next three years. It has also targeted engine and gearbox regulations from 2013 to include new fuel efficient technologies.

WSR is aiming to expand its World Touring Car Championship programme to include the end-of-season events in Japan and Macau. The BMW squad will run Colin Turkington in a 320si in the next three WTCC events at the Algarve, Brands Hatch and Brno under the eBay Motors banner after securing backing from the online auction site. Simpson Breaks Silence Over Impact/SFI Battle

INDIANAPOLIS — Seven days after a United States District Court Judge ruled in favor of his company, Impact Racing, in the company’s dispute against the SFI Foundation, which sets the standards for safety equipment, safety pioneer Bill Simpson ended his silence on the matter. Simpson, whose company’s equipment remains certified, thanks to the judge’s ruling, issued this statement Monday afternoon: I have read the recent press release released by SFI Foundation (June 21, 2010) and found it full of legal jargon and missing a few major points I’d like the racing community to know. In siding with Impact in our preliminary injunction against SFI’s intended canceling of our contract with them last week, the court considered many facts that haven’t been officially released at this point.

Failed US F1 Fined, Banned

VALENCIA, Spain — Already dead and buried, US F1 is now also fined and banned. The FIA’s World Motor Sport Council came down hard on the North Carolina-based team that was granted an entry for the 2010 season but failed to show up. Having found US F1 “guilty of having infringed the FIA International Sporting Code” the FIA fined the team 309,000 euros (which is basically the $382,000 sum the team deposited for its entry fee in the championship), plus it “disqualified” US F1, thus depriving US F1 of the right to take part, in any way whatsoever, in any competition.
Mark Webber Survives ‘Huge Crash’ In Valencia

VALENCIA, Spain — Mark Webber walked away bruised but unhurt from a wild ride Sunday after his Red Bull somersaulted high through the air and then slammed into a tire wall during the European Grand Prix. Webber, who had made an early pit stop, came up fast behind Heikki Kovalainen’s Lotus on the back straight. Rally GB National details revealed

The organisers of Wales Rally GB have issued further details of the all-new national rally which will support Britain’s round of the World Rally Championship. The inaugural Wales Rally GB National will run on Saturday November 13 and Sunday November 14, with the national cars driving the all of the weekend stages included on the WRC round except for the Cardiff city spectator stage. The reason for the inclusion of this new event is to offer national-level competitors the opportunity to compete on the same stages as the world stars, while offering spectators more action between the first and second run of the Welsh tests
