Sainz relaxed ahead of Dakar start
December 31st, 2010
Carlos Sainz has admitted that he is more relaxed in his approach to the Dakar Rally this time around – having finally delivered his first victory in the event 12 months ago. Ahead of the official start of the event on New Year’s Day, Sainz is hoping to triumph once again – and is revelling in the fact that the pressure is much less this time around. “To start the Dakar Rally as defending champion changes one thing above all else: You can go a little more relaxed to the start, since we achieved the big goal of winning the ‘Dakar’ once already last year,” said Sainz about his success earlier in 2010.

Vettel eyes solid start to 2011
December 31st, 2010
Sebastian Vettel is targeting a strong start to his 2011 title defence – in a bid to try and avoid the stresses that come from end of season world championship showdowns. Although Vettel eventually came out on top following a four-way title decider in Abu Dhabi this year, the German could have been crowned champion much earlier in the campaign if he had not given away valuable points at the beginning of the campaign. In Bahrain he lost victory when a spark plug failed in the closing stages of the race, while in Australia he looked set for victory before being pitched off the track with a wheel problem
