While there is a battle for the championship with three weeks to go in the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Series (NiLMS), it was the strength of the Main Performance PC-sponsored drivers that made the story at Martinsville Speedway in Week Ten of the online racing series. NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS) driver Richie Davidowitz led the charge with a big win on Thursday to capture the overall win during Round 10 of 12 in the popular series. The win which put Davidowitz on top for the week was rated at 3263 Strength of Field (SoF) and saw the pole-sitter lead wire-to-wire en route to victory lane in the 50 lap event. Peterhansel profits from Gordon woes

Stephane Peterhansel edged closer to a tenth Dakar Rally victory as Robby Gordon and Krzysztof Holowczyc, his two nearest rivals at the start of the day, suffered a variety of afflictions on stage 10. Gordon lost more than 11 minutes on the special stage when he went off track and damaged the front left of his car.
Mini granted full manufacturer status

The FIA has confirmed Mini World Rally Team will contest this year’s series as a full manufacturer. As revealed by AUTOSPORT on January 4, the British-based team will run Dani Sordo in a John Cooper Works WRC , with paying drivers taking the second seat in place of Kris Meeke due to a shortfall in the budget.
WRC timing firm to miss Monte Carlo

The World Rally Championship’s expert timing firm Stage One Technology will not be in Monte Carlo for next week’s season-opener after it was unable to find agreement with the administrators of North One Sports. After working for two days to try and ensure continuity in the timing and tracking systems used in the WRC, Stage One Technology managing director Simon de Banke has this evening confirmed to AUTOSPORT that he and his firm will not be going to the Monte Carlo Rally.
Kubica injures leg in fall in Italy

Robert Kubica has injured his leg in a fall near his home, with sources close to the Polish driver suggesting that he has reopened a fracture that he sustained in his rally accident last year. It is understood that Kubica fell over on ice in Pietrasanta, where he lives, and subsequently complained of pain in the right leg which was broken in his crash. He was driven to the local hospital for checks
Citroen loses team manager to VW

Citroen team manager Sven Smeets has departed the French team for Volkswagen, mirroring the move made by driver Sebastien Ogier. Smeets was unavailable for comment on the move, but AUTOSPORT’s sources have confirmed the Belgian will be switching to the Hannover-based VW team in the coming weeks. Smeets, who was a long-time World Rally Championship co-driver for Freddy Loix, joined Citroen in 2006 and became team manager in 2008.
Williams partners with Michael Johnson

Williams F1 has announced a deal with Olympic gold medallist and former 200m world record holder Michael Johnson. Johnson’s Performance Inc company will provide an intensive training programme for the Formula 1 team’s pit crew personnel, and also evaluate its current training programme. In return, the MJP logo will be displayed on the sleeves of driver and team overalls and on team kit.
Lola Drayson bids for Formula E supply

The new Lola-Drayson partnership is aiming to be the chassis and drivetrain supplier to the FIA’s new Formula E series. The partnership took the wraps off its first collaboration – the all-electric B12/ 69EV – at the Cleaner Racing Conference in Birmingham’s NEC today. However, the LMP1-based car is just a showcase for the electric technology beneath the surface.

Michigan International Speedway played host to the penultimate race of the 2011 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series season and, with the series championship and automatic berths in the 2012 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship still up for grabs, last night’s online race figured to set the stage for next week’s dramatic season finale. Ferrari eager to help F1 secure future

Ferrari is eager to play a role in helping secure a better future for grand prix racing, despite its recent decision to break away from the Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA). Lotus reactive ride height is legal

Lotus’s rivals look set to be forced to copy its innovative reactive ride height system ahead of the 2012 season, with the FIA happy the concept is totally legal. There has been much intrigue in recent days about the mechanism that Lotus was reported to have tried out at the Abu Dhabi young driver test last year. Tincknell moves from Fortec to Carlin

Ferrari hopes that the long-running dispute over Formula 1′s Resource Restriction Agreement can be resolved by next month, ahead of fresh talks between leading teams over the matter. Ferrari is awaiting an answer from the FIA on the legality of an adjustable ride-height braking system that Lotus is believed to be developing for 2012.
