Getting a Grip on PIR
by Jameson Spies on March 9th, 2012
The season of huge races continued for the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series, this time it was Week Five at Phoenix International Raceway. With forty-one sim racers topping the 200 point mark, it was another strong week for many NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series hopefuls. The aging PIR surface offers little grip, so the few who were able to find traction would be propelled to victory lane in some of the most hotly-contested races of the season. The top split of the week, once again nearing the all time SoF record, was won by the NiPS bound Jason Karlavige. Kenneth O’Keefe dominated much of the race before having some harsh luck, which surrendered the lead to Karlavige, who was able to seal the deal and the 387 points that came along [...]

by Chris Cunningham on March 9th, 2012
Lime Rock Park played host to the grand opening of the iRacing.com Skip Barber Premier Series with the 1.53 mile road course serving as the stage for exciting online racing in three different time slots on Wednesday. The warm temperatures accompanying Spring’s early arrival in New England weren’t a major factor for the 194 sim-racers vying for the series’ top prize — a seat in a 3 day Skip Barber Racing School. With two virtually perfect performances, however, a red hot Christian Aranha blazed his way to the top of the points standings. The morning online races (10:00 GMT) were a clear example of sim racers testing the waters. The first split saw Aranha winning in a dominant fashion. The Floridian not only started on the pole, but led all [...]

March 9th, 2012
The European Formula 3 Championship has been revived for the coming season in a bid to increase interest in the single-seater category. While this scenario has been averted, the FIA International F3 Trophy, which began last year in a bid to join up the world’s most prestigious races in the class, has been scrapped.
