Aerolab vindicated by Force India ruling
March 21st, 2012
Aerolab’s managing director Jean-Claude Migeot says he is pleased to have proved his company’s innocence following a long-running legal dispute with Force India regarding the use of intellectual property. Aerolab had been a partner of Vijay Mallya’s squad, but terminated the relationship in 2009 over unpaid bills. It then partnered with Caterham F1 – then Lotus – to design the T127 – which proved the centre of the legal dispute as Force India alleged its intellectual property had been systematically copied.

Alfalla Wins Caution-filled Chicagoland
by Jason Lofing on March 21st, 2012
Defending NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Champion Ray Alfalla won his first race of the year at Chicagoland Speedway Tuesday night, dominating the second half of the online race after taking the lead on Lap 54. Even the several late race yellows which bunched the field were no trouble for Alfalla, as he easily held-off Michael Conti and Steve Sheehan on the final green flag run to the checkered flag. After running second for 65 laps, Patrick Baldwin slipped to fourth ahead of Tyler D Hudson. Alfalla was pleased with the result, which also moved him up to second in the championship standings behind Conti. “Car was excellent through the curved portion of the course, as they say. It was tough to keep focus on all the consecutive restarts, and I [...]

March 21st, 2012
Carlos Sainz Jr became the first man to top two days of British Formula 3 International Series testing this year when he went fastest on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. The Spaniard, who knows the track well from Formula BMW and Formula Renault, leapt half a second clear with 10 minutes remaining of the session in his Carlin Dallara-Volkswagen. British team-mates Harry Tincknell and Jack Harvey also improved in the final minutes to fill that half-second breach and complete a one-two-three for Carlin.

March 21st, 2012
Hendrick Motorsport got all but one penalty overturned Tuesday in the final hearing against NASCAR’s ruling following technical infractions found on Jimmie Johnson’s car before the Daytona 500. John Middlebrook, Chief Appellate Officer, ruled to rescind the loss of 25 championship points in both the drivers’ and owners’ standing, a six-race suspension for crew chief Chad Kanus and car chief Ron Malec, but ratified the $100,000 fine against Knaus. The decision comes as an unexpected result, as for the first time since Middlebrook is in his position he got initial penalties totally overturned.
