Rosenqvist heads Barcelona test
March 22nd, 2012
Felix Rosenqvist underlined his status as pre-season favourite by topping a second F3 Euro Series test within the space of a week at a wet and dry Barcelona circuit. The Swede has gone fastest during two days of official running at Valencia last weekend, and was again the pace-setter on both days for Mucke Motorsport as the cars and drivers moved up the Spanish coast. Rosenqvist’s test-topping time of 1m39.634s came on the opening morning and enabled him to head his team-mate Pascal Wehrlein by 0.397s
Lynn tops times at Silverstone test
March 22nd, 2012
Reigning Formula Renault UK champion Alex Lynn ended the Carlin domination of British Formula 3 Championship pre-season testing by going fastest on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for Fortec. Lynn was quickest in each of the three sessions on the final day of the test in his Dallara-Mercedes, setting three laps good enough to set the overall pace in the opening session and topping the day in 1m53.530s. Further encouragement for Fortec came as his Dutch team-mate Hannes van Asseldonk chased Lynn up the order to third best on the day.
Finesse and Force
by Jameson Spies on March 22nd, 2012
Driving finesse combined with brute force as the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series made a trip to “Thunder Valley” for Week Seven of their twelve week season. Just as with their physical world counterparts, multiple groove racing was the theme for the NASCAR sim racers at Bristol Motor Speedway. The 750+ horsepower Chevrolet Impalas could run from the edge of the apron to the safer barrier — and anywhere in between. With that being said, it is still a half mile, high banked bullring, where racing real-estate is always at a premium. A new name emerged atop the NiCAS pylon this week, that being Dylan Duval. Duval is no stranger to scoring huge amounts of points in some lower divisions, but he is now putting a stamp on the NiCAS. [...]

Variety is the Spice of iGPS
by Teemu Iivonen and Simon Cattell on March 22nd, 2012
Cornett, Stergios and Beteille Win at Zandvoort Running simultaneously with the iRacing.com Grand Prix Series World Championship (iGPSWC), the iRacing.com Grand Prix Series also moved to Zandvoort over Week 7 of 2012 Season 1. Circuit Park Zandvoort is located in the dunes north of the town of Zandvoort, in the Netherlands, near the North Sea coast line. The circuit is notoriously popular because of its fast, sweeping corners such as Scheivlak as well as the “Tarzanbocht” (Tarzan corner) hairpin at the end of the start/finish straight. Tarzanbocht is the most famous corner in the circuit, helped by the banking on the outside of the corner, allowing for excellent overtaking opportunities with a good run down the pit straight. Courtesy of some extra iGPWSC practice, Jake Stergios set a blistering lap [...]

FIA insists Mercedes rear wing is legal
March 22nd, 2012
Lotus and Red Bull Racing’s complaints that the DRS-activated F-duct on the Mercedes rear wing is illegal have been rejected by the FIA, AUTOSPORT has learned. The two outfits wanted clarification on the matter ahead of this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix, with both teams reckoning the duct that helps stall the Mercedes wings for a straight-line speed boost is a breach of the rules that prevents driver activated aerodynamic devices.
Massa sure new chassis will help him
March 22nd, 2012
Felipe Massa is sure that his change of chassis for this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix will help him recover from his poor start to the season in Australia. The Brazilian’s future at Ferrari came under the spotlight again after he suffered a tough weekend in Australia, qualifying only 16th and racing in the midfield until retiring after a collision with Bruno Senna. Raikkonen seeking steering improvements
March 22nd, 2012
Kimi Raikkonen will continue to work on improving his Lotus E20′s power steering in Malaysia, as he is still not happy with the feedback he is getting in the cockpit on his Formula 1 return. The Finn missed out on track time in free practice in Australia last weekend as his team worked to give him a steering system that suited him. In the end it could not find a solution better than the original set-up on the car, so the 2007 world champion had to get through his first weekend back without being totally comfortable.
