March 30th, 2012
British Touring Car star Jason Plato believes this year’s championship is wide open ahead of this weekend’s opener at Brands Hatch. Double champion Plato has joined the Triple 8-run works MG squad for 2012. A lack of testing with the new car means Plato just wants some points for Brands

Torrential rain could hinder leaders
March 30th, 2012
The second day of the Rally of Portugal will start in some of the wettest conditions for the World Rally Championship in recent years, which could work to the detriment of the current leaders. The torrential rain which arrived in the Algarve area last night has continued into this morning, with the stages north of the rally’s Faro base turning extremely muddy. In these conditions, the best place on the road is at the front of the field, with the gravel stages worsening in condition with every car that passes.
Fabrice Lom now working for the FIA
March 30th, 2012
Fabrice Lom, the former chief engineer of Renault’s customer programme in Formula 1, is now working for the FIA, AUTOSPORT has learned. The Frenchman, who most recently assisted Red Bull Racing during its back-to-back championship success, took up a role as Head of Power Train at motor racing’s governing body at the end of last year, but his appointment has only now been confirmed. As part of a restructured engine department, following the departure of its former chief Gilles Simon, Lom is working with Bernard Niclot, who heads up the division.

March 30th, 2012
Narain Karthikeyan thinks it is now time to move on from his public spat with Sebastian Vettel over their collision in Malaysia – as he is keen to put the matter to bed. The Indian and his German rival have dominated headlines since Sunday’s race at Sepang after criticising each other in the wake of their incident, where Vettel suffered a puncture after clipping his rival’s front wing as he was lapping him
Latvala: Ford must seize opportunity
March 30th, 2012

Two Legs Up
by David Phillips on March 30th, 2012
By any measure, Rubens Barrichello had a rough introduction to the IZOD IndyCar Series at St. Petersburg. As if making his IndyCar debut on an unfamiliar street circuit wasn’t challenge enough, the Formula One veteran played catch-up most of the weekend after his Dallara-Chevrolet was sidelined by mechanical problems in the opening practice session. Nevertheless, he was positioned for a top ten finish only to run out of fuel in the final laps of the race. Barrichello is looking for better results in Round Two of the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park. With good reason: He already has a couple of legs-up compared to last weekend. Sure, he and the KV Racing Technology team tested at the 2.38 mile road course a few weeks ago. Thanks [...]
