Superleague ‘best F1 alternative’
February 11th, 2011
Superleague Formula chief Robin Webb believes the football-themed series is now the best international single-seater option outside Formula 1. The championship will start its fourth season this year, and over its formative seasons it has attracted various drivers with F1 experience, including Narain Karthikeyan, Sebastien Bourdais, Antonio Pizzonia and Robert Doornbos. Webb reckons Superleague ultimately benefited from space in the marketplace created by the collapse of A1GP in 2009, making it attractive to both drivers trying to get to F1 and seeking an alternative single-seater career.

February 10th, 2011
Former Formula Renault 3.5 racer Filip Salaquarda will contest the 2011 Superleague Formula season with 2009 title-winning team Atech Reid GP.

Rigon takes Anderlecht to title
October 24th, 2010
Anderlecht’s Davide Rigon scored his second Superleague Formula title success in the final round at Navarra in Spain on Sunday after a thrilling super final to conclude the season. Porto’s Parente wins, title still open
October 24th, 2010
FC Porto’s Alvaro Parente won the second Superleague Formula race at Navarra in Spain, but the battle for the €1million championship prize will go to the five-lap super final, as Craig Dolby finished fourth for Tottenham Hotspur and series leader Davide Rigon (Anderlecht) was only 11th after a spin. Dolby’s late-race pass on Maxi Cortes (Roma) gave him enough points to keep his title dream alive
Martin wins for Beijing Gouan
October 24th, 2010
Beijing Guoan’s John Martin led from start to finish to win the opening race at the new Navarra track in Spain during the final round of the Superleague Formula season. Although Rigon will start on pole and is favourite for Sunday’s races, an extra spanner has been thrown in the works as the two 45-minute races will be run back-to-back, rather than have a three-hour gap between them as usual
