Hunter-Reay takes Milwaukee win

Ryan Hunter-Reay took win and moved to second in the points with a controlled performance in the IndyCar race at the Milwaukee Mile. Hunter-Reay, whose 2012 championship campaign was kick-started by his victory in last year’s Milwaukee race, was a threat right from the start, although the race was given a twist when several cars took advantage of an early caution to pit under yellows and go off-sequence Those included Takuma Sato and Helio Castroneves, and for Sato, the strategy worked well enough for the Japanese driver to lead almost half of the race
Andretti claims Milwaukee pole

Marco Andretti underlined his pace during practice by claiming pole for Saturday’s IndyCar race at Milwaukee. Andretti, who topped both the Friday practice sessions, eclipsed the track’s previous qualifying speed record with his two-lap average of 170.515mph. Team-mate James Hinchcliffe, who Andretti bumped from the top spot, also beat the old record with his 170.418mph effort

Marco Andretti continued to hold sway on the opening day of this weekend’s IndyCar round at the Milwaukee Mile after setting the fastest time in the final practice session before qualifying. Andretti, who also set the pace during morning practice, went to the top of the timing screens in the final minutes with a best lap of 21.6811s

Andretti moved to the top with a lap of 21.9217s just over 10 minutes before the end of the session to lower the previous marker set by team-mate Ryan Hunter-Reay by just 0.0183s, and the time remained unbeaten

Penske fined over Texas infringement

Team Penske has been fined and docked entrant points after Helio Castroneves’s car failed a post-race inspection following his win at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday. The team was fined $35,000 and docked 15 entrant points after Castroneves’ car was discovered to failing to comply with rule 14.6.6.14, which mandates that “the exit of the underwing height is 7.600 inches with a tolerance of plus 0.050 inches and minus 0.000 inches”.
Briscoe to return for Milwaukee

Ryan Briscoe will return to Panther Racing for this weekend’s IndyCar race at Milwaukee. The Australian drove for the team in the Detroit double-header two weeks ago, but handed the car over to Oriol Servia for last weekend’s round at Texas.

Tony Kanaan topped the second and final practice session before Saturday night’s IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway. Kanaan went to the top shortly after the start of the Friday evening session with a 218.551mph lap for KV, and his speed remained unbeaten.
Power dominates Texas qualifying

Will Power will start Saturday night’s IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway from pole after dominating qualifying at the 1.5 mile oval. Power secured the top spot with a two-lap average of 219.182mph, well clear of closest contender Marco Andretti’s 217.553mph effort.

Marco Andretti opened this weekend’s IndyCar round at Texas Motor Speedway by setting the fastest time in the first practice session. Andretti went to the top early on with his 24.0440s effort to shade Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan by just 0.0412 seconds. Will Power, James Jakes and Simona de Silvestro completed the top five.

Servia gets Texas, Iowa Panther ride

Oriol Servia will drive for Panther Racing in the Texas Motor Speedway IndyCar race this weekend, the team has announced. Servia missed the Detroit race last weekend after his Panther DRR team decided to withdraw from the series following the Indianapolis 500. Although the Spanish driver was linked with a seat for Detroit, it was Ryan Briscoe who secured the drive in the #4 car previously occupied by JR Hildebrand.
Mann secures Coyne drive for Texas

Pagenaud wins chaotic race two

Simon Pagenaud took the first IndyCar win of his career in a chaotic second race of this weekend’s double-header in Detroit. On an afternoon where pit strategies were blown open by a procession of caution periods during the first half of the race, Schmidt Peterson driver Pagenaud worked himself towards the front during his middle stint, and had just taken the lead from James Jakes when he made his final stop. But the gap to pursuers Dario Franchitti and Mike Conway was enough that Pagenaud was able to rejoin the track ahead of them, and he reclaimed the lead when Jakes – who was on a similar strategy to the Frenchman – made his final stop

Conway dominates Detroit race one

Mike Conway dominated the opening race of this weekend’s IndyCar double-header in Detroit; the Briton taking an extraordinary win on his one-off appearance with Dale Coyne Racing. Conway, who was only confirmed as the driver of the second Coyne car a few days ago, crossed the line more than 12 seconds ahead of second-placed Ryan Hunter-Reay.
