I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I was born in Adelaide and we moved-out for Angle Vale for a few years until I was about 7 years old, when we moved to the Barossa Valley where I live now. I'm 19 years old and currently traveling back and forth weekly as I'm studying for a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

Nathan's passion for motorsport first began in the late 1980s, captivated by the season in which Aryton Senna won his first F1 title with McLaren. Over the years his interest widened to include the British Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, NASCAR and various other forms of motorsport. Nathan began sim-racing in the mid 1990s using games developed by Papyrus. He later moved onto SimBim simulations such as GTR, GTR2 and GTR Evolution and has most recently joined the iRacing community.

When he's not working or sim racing, Nathan enjoys spending time and relaxing with his family. Other hobbies include going to festivals, tinkering with his car and doing up his house.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

    Contributing Writer
Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

Doyle and Goke Early IndyCar Oval Series Leaders

by Matt Kingsbury on May 10th, 2013

169
Doyle was in dominant form at Charlotte, leading from flag-to-flag.

The first week of 2013 Season 2 saw the iRacing.com Indy Car Series take to Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 1.5 mile oval with its 24 degree banked corners for some high speed, wheel-to-wheel action.  Located in the heart of NASCAR country in Concord, North Carolina, CMS hosted what would turn out to be quite an interesting week of IndyCar racing with a combined 397 drivers taking a shot at glory. In the IndyCar Oval Fixed setup series, 244 drivers took to the track aiming to jump straight to the series lead in hopes of winning this season’s title. The sim-racer who accomplished that feat was Tim Doyle (Atlantic), who jumped to the top of the points standings with 198 points after competing in one race the strength of the field race [...]

2013 S1 V8 Supercar champion Madison Down picked-up where he left off with a convincing win at Laguna Seca.

The opening round of the iRacing.com V8 Supercar Series headed to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.  This would be the series’ first appearance at Laguna Seca for a few years and all the changes during Week 13 promise to make for a really interesting season of online racing. Qualifying for Round One was lead by defending series champion Madison Down with a 1:24.320 while Mitchell McLeod — now driving for 4Motorsports — would start on the front row for the first time in just over a year in the main series.  Justin Ruggier and Josh Muggleton were third and fourth on the grid while Richard Hamstead and Rens Broekman occupied the third row. John Emerson and Vail Riches from TTL locked-out Row Four with Corey Slade and Brad Ryan rounded-out the [...]

The 2013 S2 Classic Teams Championship got off and running at Silverstone.

Fittipaldi driver Nuno Moreira opened the 2013 S2 Classic Teams Championship with an excellent performance that placed the veteran sim-racer atop the championship. Several pre-season favourites and leading runners were absent as the season opened with 136 drivers visiting the classic Northamptonshire venue of Silverstone.  Running the Silverstone Historical layout 12 drivers registered race wins, with Season One champion, now running as a guest driver, Nicklas Lindqvist, taking three wins in as many starts in is Lotus 79. Two drivers registered pairs of wins, from pairs of starts with Steve Kasimatis outscoring Williams driver, James Hand by 41 points. One other driver was a double winner during the course of the week, but Jacek Madejski had to start his Hesketh five times in order to take his duo of victories. [...]

Halabi & Dolezal Lead iRNC after Season Opener

by Joe Pisciotta, Jr on May 8th, 2013

The iRNC kicked-off 2013 S2 with some Japanese-style, multi-class, short track racing. Here second fastest Mazda qualifier Kester Baird cruises to a class win.

The inRacingNews Challenge multi-class series opened 2013 Season 2 at Okayama “Short” in Japan this week.  iRNC regulars can agree this is probably the slickest short track on the schedule.  After crowning last season’s champions just two weeks ago both the overall Solstice and Mazda champs are back to defend their titles and, after one week of online racing a new name sits atop the Solstice standings while the reigning Mazda champion continues his winning ways. Pontiac Solstice Ilham Halabi (Asia), who was a late contender last season in the Solstice championship, started-off the campaign with a huge win over Chris Hughson (New York) in the highest SOF (5696) race this week.  Ilham’s mere .952 second win over Hughson earned him 252 champ points and he now sits atop the [...]

Mustangs Kickoff Strong

by Jeff Jacobs on May 8th, 2013

Bridesmaid to early championship favorite, Honczarenko stands atop the leader board after Week One.

The most-watched pony race of the week may have taken place at Churchill Downs on Saturday, but the four-wheel variety provided a full week of excitement at Lime Rock Park, first stop for Season 2 of the iRacing.com Mustang Cup series.  A great turnout of 353 different sim-drivers took their Ford Mustang FR500S to the famous Connecticut track for some of the best competition of the week.  The result was a season that opened with 47 official races producing an amazing 29 different winners.  Six of the 26-lap online races were decided by less than a second, with similarly close battles to be found throughout the field in every race. Vedran Broz looked to make an early statement in Season 2, taking 11 wins in 12 races during the week.  [...]

The iRacing.com Grand Prix Series took to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the first week of 2013 Season 2.  The 2.238 mile (3.602 km) course was recently given a graphics overhaul by the iRacing team.  Some drivers were a bit skeptical about the circuit choice for the schedule, feeling it was simply to show-off the updates without thought of what is best for the series.  Nonetheless, drivers took to the track contending to be part of the second batch to earn their black Pro stripe in 2013.  120 drivers contended in a race session throughout the week, 101 of whom placed qualifying times.   Leading the qualifiers was Ricardo Castro Ledo (France), who earned the pole position with a lap of 1:01.381 in his Williams-Toyota FW31, closely followed by Ryosuke Sawada [...]

Binder Performs Perfection At Phoenix

When it comes to motorsports championships, seven is a number of reverence. The king of NASCAR, Richard Petty, is known for winning seven championships. Same with the legendary Dale Earnhardt, who also won seven cup titles. The world renowned Formula One wheelman Michael Schumacher was crowned seven times, and MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi has collected seven championship trophies as well in the 500cc class. After the conclusion of iRacing’s first season of 2013, there’s a new seven-time champion in town. Alan Binder, the king of the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, scored his seventh straight sprint car championship on the service. While the competition near the top is fiercer than ever before, Binder will be hunting down his eight straight title this season, and will be pitted against the front runners of [...]

Rodney Wafford (Chevrolet SS) and Michael Rivera (Ford Fusion) bring the field to the green at Talladega.

Season 2 of 2013 has begun in iRacing. For the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (fixed setup), the season kicked-off with 35-lap races on the high banks of the Talladega Superspeedway. The thrill of three-wide, flat-out racing always helps populate iRacing servers, and this past week did not disappoint in terms of participation, as an astounding total of 1479 drivers came out to take a chance in the draft at NASCAR’s largest oval. High SOF Race: The high strength-of-field (SOF) race took place on the first night of the race week. Clayton Celovsky (Canada) drove his Mustang Creek Ford Fusion to victory lane in the 4183 SOF event, earning his only win of the week in the series and 267 championship points.  Eric Sabol (Pennsylvania) finished second in the race, [...]

Alfalla’s Magical Week

by Jordan Hightower on May 7th, 2013

Week 1 New Hampshire P1

For some sim racers, navigating around The Magic Mile (New Hampshire Motor Speedway) takes a type of wizardry. Over 1,650 sim racers took the green flag for at least one race during the opening week of Season Two in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Fixed Series, and there were absolutely a fair share of those who were out to lunch as they attempted to navigate the 1.058-mile speedway in a timely fashion. For those online racers who are among the elite group, New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a really fun track to race. Packing just seven degrees of banking in the racing groove, the track provides a high speed short track racing atmosphere that places NHMS among a favorite for many sim racers. Although he has yet to grab a [...]

Ramsdell

This week I interviewed Jeff Ramsdell, a driver who runs a lot of races, but wins a lot of them too. An iRacer from the Georgia club, Ramsdell has run a total of over 1600 oval races since joining iRacing in May of 2010.  In fact, today is his third year anniversary as an iRacer and he has a lot to be proud about. Of those 1600 starts, he has visited victory lane over 100 times, has finished in the top five nearly 600 times and has earned dozens of pole positions. With an iRating over 4700, he is definitely a driver to watch every time he hits the race track. I got the chance to talk to him about his iRacing career to date, his life outside of iRacing, [...]

iRacer Profile: Dylan Duval

Racing always has and always will be a numbers game.  Lap times and speeds, points races and championships, chassis set-ups, engine settings, gear ratios, margin of victory . . . you name it, if it counts in racing, there’s a number attached to it. And when it comes to racing, no number matters more than One.  Whether it’s a 24 hour race or short sprint, a qualifying or practice session, the whole point of the exercise is to be Number One. With 154 wins in 868 starts on iRacing, Halifax Nova Scotia’s Dylan Duval is certainly no stranger to Number One.  But he earned a unique first in 2013 Season One when he took ten wins from 30 starts to finish Numero Uno in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series [...]

Bäckman, Inniss, Raileanu Prevail in Grand Touring

by Austin Hartenfels on May 2nd, 2013

144
Parrish, Raileanu and Ryan Field had some fantastic racing and close moments throughout 2013 Season One.

Season One of the 2013 iRacing.com Grand Touring Cup has come to a close. The champions from each class emerged victorious after dueling with the best in some of the most compelling sim-racing on the Internet. The Grand Touring series showed iRacers what it’s like to compete in true touring car racing. Week 12, however, proved to be most difficult, racing at a track that is quite possibly one of the hardest on iRacing. VW Jettas, Mazda MX-5s and Pontiac Solstices flew around Suzuka Grand Prix Circuit to close-out the season. In the Solstice class, none other than Joni Bäckman (Finland) emerged victorious and took the the championship crown, edging Andrey Loginov (Central-Eastern Europe) by 61 points. 175 points back, Joni Hagner (Finland) placed third in front of Paul Clark2 [...]

Ottinger Steals Richmond for Second Straight Win

by Jason Lofing on May 1st, 2013

In the right place at the right time, Ottinger scored his second straight NiSWC triumph..

After the smoke cleared from the Richmond carnage, Nick Ottinger found himself in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship victory lane for the second straight race.  Unlike two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, where Ottinger had the dominant car from start to finish, his victory at Richmond International Raceway was achieved with good strategy and some timely accident avoidance. “Two in a row! Wow, I had a great car for the long run,” said Ottinger. “I really can’t explain how we survived it all; however we had the right strategy and it kept playing into our favor late in the race.” Ottinger started twenty-second and wasted no time cutting his way through the field. By the time the first caution flew on Lap 48, Ottinger had already cracked the [...]

Week 12 Chicagoland Open P1

The final week of Season One brought sim racers from all around the world to the Joilet, Illinois for 35 laps of intense racing around the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway. Racing the Silverado on the wide, fast tracks is a favorite among both real and virtual NASCAR racers. Over 2,050 sim racers took to the track for at least one race during the week, but of those 2,050+ racers, only one could lay claim as the top driver for the week in the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Fixed Series. Lance Gomez Jr (New York) took home top honors for the week by earning 261 championship points for his efforts during the week. Gomez made 11 starts during the week, collecting eight top five finishes to go along with six wins. Jose [...]

Week 12 Chicagoland Fixed P1

Week 12 of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series pays a visit to Chicagoland Speedway for 70 laps of high speed action around the 1.5-mile speedway. Over 700 sim racers partisicpated in at least one event during the seven days of online racing, but after the smoke settled, a familiar face to victory lane emerged to claim the top spot for the week. Kenny Humpe (Ohio) made an incredible 24 starts during the week, earning top five finishes in 23, and claiming 18 victories, all while earning 185 championship points. Kollin Keister (Atlantic) ended the week in the second position, earning 182 points after starting 12 races throughout the week. Nicholas Goertzen (Canada) made two starts during the week, claiming one victory, and netting 178 total points. Tom Moustakas (New [...]

Phillip Island Success Sends Huttu Clear

by Chris Hall on April 29th, 2013

309
Huttu leads Luis and Kerkhof on the opening lap. The Finn would go on to his third win of the season after Luis and Kerkhof encountered trouble.

In an action-packed 69 laps around the virtual Philip Island, Greger Huttu steered his Williams-Toyota FW31 to the top step of the podium, claiming maximum points in Round Five of the iRacing.com World Championship Grand Prix Series. With the demise of erstwhile rival Hugo Luis in the opening stages, the reigning champion now heads the standings table by 45 points. Starting from pole position with a lap time of 1:07.445, Huttu’s getaway from the line kept the Finn at the front of the pack, with My3id‘s Luis following closely behind. Setting a blistering pace, Huttu was already nearly a second clear of Luis by the end of the opening lap, and was soon to be handed a massive advantage. The first incident to aid Huttu’s progress involved his Redline team-mate [...]

KIA and Cadillac Gear-Up For Explosive Series Debut

by Jonathan Wimbush on April 29th, 2013

The Global Challenge features the new KIA Optima and the Cadillac CTS-V in iRacing's newest mixed class racing series.

There is an air of excitement and anticipation this week around the iRacing community as Week 13 of Season 1 draws to a close. Season 2 is just around the corner, and one of the series that has many drivers stirring is the new iRacing Global Challenge Series. This series will feature the brand new KIA Optima in a multiclass field with the Cadillac CTS-V, which can still be considered one of the newer cars featured on the iRacing service. Week 1 is set to begin at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (the recently renamed Mosport), and many drivers are already on the track tweaking setups to find as much speed as possible before the season kicks-off. I had the opportunity to talk to some of the drivers scheduled to run [...]

Get to Know . . . Brennan Mercer

by David Ifeguni on April 29th, 2013

Casey Malon is one of many iRacers to have sported the Garry Mercer Trucking colours.

For this week, I interviewed a driver from north of the border. He is known for many things on iRacing. Some of you may know him as The Number Cruncher, while others may know him as the guy who sponsors drivers like Adam Gilliland, Chad J Laughton and Ray Alfalla in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship. One thing is for sure, since joining the service in January of 2012, he has made his mark on iRacing.com. His name is Brennan Mercer. Brennan has won a dozen races in 283 starts on the oval side of iRacing.com, but is known for much more than his racing skills. The 29 year old from Alliston, Ontario is a key member of the Operations and Dispatch section in his father’s company, Garry Mercer [...]

With Chicagoland now in the books, so is the first NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series (NiCAS) season of 2013. The Gen6 cars threw a curveball to drivers and teams, as well as delayed the start of the season, but ten drivers were able to adjust on the fly better than anyone and will be rewarded with a trip to the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series (NiPS). The new style stockcars evened the playing field for everyone, and it showed in the final standings as there was a refreshing mix of new and old faces at the top. Dylan Duval is a driver that has had a lot of success on the iRacing.com service in the trucks, but has now elevated himself to the top of the charts in the NiCAS [...]
