    19 years old, Jameson Spies lives in Quartz Hill, California. He grew-up surrounded by racing. His mother raced late models throughout Southern California while his father built and setup the car.     Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.

    Tim Terry, aka the voice of Maritime stock car racing, fell in love with sim racing in 2004 after he joined the Sim Racing Network crew as a pit reporter. From October 2004 to SRNtv’s closure in June 2007, he’s covered prestigious races and leagues such as the Online 500, FLM Fall 400, Real Racing Online and the DMP Racing League – each as the lead broadcaster for the company. At the same time the wheels started to turn in another direction as he began announcing stock car racing locally. Terry became the assistant announcer at Scotia Speedworld in May 2007 and took over full duties in May 2009 when long-time voice Mike Kaplan retired from the track. Terry also became the series voice of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in ’09 and continues to hold down both posts in 2011. He has also announced races for the Pro All Stars Series, Atlantic Open Wheel and Maritime League of Legends tours and has called races at six different Atlantic Canadian tracks. Terry can be heard online at WebRacingNetwork.com, RLMtv.com and OLRtv.com covering sim races. He also makes occasional appearances on PSRtv.com. Tuenti Racing’s Pepe Oriola set the pace in free practice one at the World Touring Car Championship’s maiden visit to Slovakia. The Spanish racer set his time at the Hans Roth-designed Slovakia Ring early in the half-hour session, before running off the road in a late effort to improve his benchmark.

Shedden tops wet Thruxton practice

Gordon Shedden topped a wet first British Touring Car free practice session at Thruxton this morning. Mat Jackson’s Motorbase Ford Focus set the pace early on before Jason Plato (works MG6), Shedden and his Honda team-mate Matt Neal all took it in turns to top the times. Neal set a sequence of 1m22s before Shedden recorded a 1m20.968s half-way through the session to put him a second clear of the field

Luciano Bacheta sealed his first F2 pole position in the first qualifying session at the Algarve. The Brit sat out the first fifteen minutes of the session, employing a tactic used to such great effect by 2011 champion Mirko Bortolotti, allowing him to take to the track for his one and only run on a clear circuit. On his third flying lap he set his quickest time, before returning to the pits to sit out the rest of the session, nervously watching the timing screen.

British Touring Car driver Rob Austin’s Thruxton weekend has started badly due to engine problems. Austin had to withdraw his NGTC Audi A4 from the race at Donington Park last time out due to engine issues and two more motors have blown on the dyno. Austin was still waiting for a repaired unit to be delivered as the first free practice session began at the Hampshire circuit on Saturday morning

Mercedes drivers Jamie Green and Gary Paffett both expect the new breed of DTM cars to be faster than the old machines from the beginning, despite the championship attempting to limit cornering speeds by cutting the amount of aerodynamic devices used this year. The first major technical rule changes since the DTM’s revival in 2000 have been introduced this year with cars now using 57 common parts, including the chassis, in a bid to drive down costs and increase driver safety

Jorge Lorenzo said his Yamaha suffered from tyre degradation in practice for MotoGP’s Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez. Valentino Rossi said he ‘felt good immediately’ as he and Ducati prospered in mixed conditions during MotoGP practice at Jerez. In contrast to an acrimonious opener in Qatar, Rossi said he and Ducati had enjoyed a far more harmonious start to the second round, and were able to commence the day with a good feeling from the outset.

Casey Stoner said that the wet conditions in MotoGP’s first and second practice sessions at Jerez prevented him from assessing the arm pump problems he suffered in Qatar. Stoner was leading in Qatar when he developed an arm pump issue that allowed Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and his Honda team-mate Dani Pedroza through to claim first and second. The Honda rider has been treated since the Losail race using similar methods to those used in 2010 when he had the same issue at Silverstone.

Carlos Sainz Jr took a brilliant double pole position at the opening round of the F3 Euro Series at Hockenheim on Friday. The 17-year-old Spaniard, who drives for British squad Carlin, was embroiled in a dogfight at the head of the timesheets with his countryman Daniel Juncadella for most of the 30-minute session. Prema Powerteam driver Juncadella looked to have done enough to end up on top with 90 seconds remaining as he lapped in 1m33.995s.

Cal Crutchlow says he needs to improve his pace in the damp at Jerez after struggling in changeable conditions in the second MotoGP practice session and posting only the ninth fastest time of the session. The Tech 3 Yamaha rider had made a strong start to the season in Qatar with a maiden front row start and fourth place in the race, but struggled with rear tyre grip as MotoGP moved to Europe. Crutchlow and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso both elected not to run in first practice as the track was too dry for wet tyres but not dry enough for slicks.

Davide Valsecchi was once again in a class of his own as he wrapped up his third GP2 win in Bahrain in a week. The DAMS driver ran second initially, as poleman Giedo van der Garde made a good start and held on at the front in his Caterham entry. The Dutchman stretched the lead to as much as 1.8 seconds, but as soon as tyre wear became as issue, Valsecchi homed into view and van der Garde was powerless to fend off the championship leader

Albuquerque tops opening practice

Filipe Albuquerque topped the opening DTM practice session of the year at Hockenheim on Friday afternoon as the championship’s new era got underway. The Portuguese driver took his brand-new Team Rosberg Audi A5 to the top of the timesheets in 1m34.508s. While this was 0.5 seconds faster than the best time set in the same session 12 months ago in the old-style A4, it was slower than Bruno Spengler’s pole time for the corresponding race

Giedo van der Garde set the fastest laptime in qualifying for Friday’s GP2 Series feature race in Bahrain. The Caterham driver’s 1m42.451s pole lap was investigated by the stewards as he was one of many drivers to run wide on the exit of the final corner.
