Long time iRacer Justin Wilson is running a strong second in the Chip Ganassi BMW powered Riley Daytona Prototype. Before the start of the race Justin was very pleased with the car and it appears to still be running in top form.
#99 Gainsco Car Running Solid Fifth with Under Five Hours to Go

The Bob Stallings Gainsco car is running strong in fifth position at 10:30 am EST. The car, which is sporting the iRacing.com logo on the wing for the first time, suffered a minor setback in the middle of the night with gearbox problems. The car was quickly repaired and is back on pace.

iRacing’s Presence at Rolex 24 Expands

iRacing’s already formidable presence at Daytona International Speedway this weekend now includes the Rolex 24 at Daytona’s GT Class. In addition to the GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing Daytona Prototype, the iRacing colors will be carried by the Interush Racing Ferrari 430 Challenge entered by Sigalsport in the opening round of the 2010 Rolex GRAND-AM Series. The Interush Ferrari will be piloted by Indy car driver Roger Yasukawa, together with Gene Sigal, Fred Poordad and Rusty West. iRacing’s association with Interush comes as the result of a new agreement with California-based company to market iRacing.com throughout Asia. “The agreement with Interush is a significant development for iRacing,” says Tony Gardner, president of iRacing.com. “This partnership will result in the iRacing service being translated into Japanese and Chinese, as well as a wide [...]

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same, which in the case of the Grand American Road Racing Ass’n’s Rolex Sports Car Series is not necessarily bad. Given the fact that the 2009 series opening Rolex 24 saw the closest competitive finish in long-distance competition, this past weekend’s tight times during testing for the 2010 Rolex were clearly a promise that the annual twice-around-the-clock affair could wind up being a repeat of what happened last January
Ganassi attracts stars for Daytona

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates has announced a star-studded line up for its assault in the upcoming 24 Hours of Daytona, where the team will field two BMW-powered Riley prototypes. Ganassi, which has won three of the past four editions of the legendary endurance event, will have arguably the strongest line-up on the grid, fielding former IndyCar Series champions and Indianapolis 500 winners Juan Pablo Montoya, Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon – all former Daytona 24 Hours winners as well – in the #02 car, where NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Jamie McMurray will also take turns behind the wheel.

Stuck dismisses VW NASCAR talk

Volkswagen motorsport head Hans-Joachim Stuck visited the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season finale at Homestead this weekend, but denied press reports suggesting the German brand is considering the series as a future platform. Stuck said he is simply taking advantage of a holiday trip to visit NASCAR. He met with some series officials during the weekend, but was quick to deny any speculation in the American media suggesting that VW saw NASCAR as an option for the near future.
Fernandez confirms team set to close

Fernandez Racing has confirmed that yesterday’s American Le Mans Series event at Laguna Seca was its final race. The LMP2 champion team revealed last month that it was unlikely to have sufficient funding to compete in 2010, and having been unable to secure any new deals since then, the operation is now set to close its doors.
Franchitti beats Dixon to Miami pole

Dario Franchitti moved one point closer to Scott Dixon in the IndyCar championship by beating his Ganassi team-mate to pole position at Homestead. Ryan Briscoe, who is third in the standings and eight points behind series leader Dixon coming into tomorrow’s deciding race, will start on the inside of row two, as the three championship contenders dominated the session
