    19 years old, Jameson Spies lives in Quartz Hill, California. He grew-up surrounded by racing. His mother raced late models throughout Southern California while his father built and setup the car.     Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.

    Tim Terry, aka the voice of Maritime stock car racing, fell in love with sim racing in 2004 after he joined the Sim Racing Network crew as a pit reporter. From October 2004 to SRNtv’s closure in June 2007, he’s covered prestigious races and leagues such as the Online 500, FLM Fall 400, Real Racing Online and the DMP Racing League – each as the lead broadcaster for the company. At the same time the wheels started to turn in another direction as he began announcing stock car racing locally. Terry became the assistant announcer at Scotia Speedworld in May 2007 and took over full duties in May 2009 when long-time voice Mike Kaplan retired from the track. Terry also became the series voice of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in ’09 and continues to hold down both posts in 2011. He has also announced races for the Pro All Stars Series, Atlantic Open Wheel and Maritime League of Legends tours and has called races at six different Atlantic Canadian tracks. Status has eye on F1 future

Reigning A1GP champion team and current GP3 start-up outfit Status Grand Prix is targeting a move into Formula 1 in the coming seasons, according to senior team figures. Status ran the title-winning A1 Team Ireland in the most recent A1GP championship, and is a week away from taking delivery of its first GP3 chassis ahead of the inaugural season for the new GP2 feeder series

Trident to add Auto GP programme

Trident Racing has become the latest GP2 team to sign up for the new Auto GP series. The Italian squad joins GP2 rivals DAMS and Super Nova, both of which confirmed their involvement last month. Trident plans to run its Auto GP programme alongside its GP2 campaign to “highlight the team’s intention to maintain a relevant position along with the other top level teams in the field of international motorsport.” The Coloni Motorsport-run Auto GP, which uses the an updated version of the first-generation A1GP cars, promises substantial prize money despite requiring a relatively small budget from its drivers, and Trident team principal Maurizio Salvadori said that he hoped to use the series to help prepare drivers for GP2

New team to join British F3

A new team called Sino Vision Racing will join the British Formula 3 grid this season with help from outgoing category stalwart Manor Motorsport. After gaining an entry to Formula 1 for 2010, Manor has quit the F3 Euro Series to switch to GP3 under the Virgin Racing banner. The squad has sold two of its Dallara-Mercedes to ex-German F3 Cup mechanic Chris Churchill, whose team will run the cars with technical support provided by John Booth’s squad.

Super Nova has become the latest GP2 team to announce that it will add an Auto GP programme for 2010. The new Auto GP series will replace Euro 3000 next year and is designed as a GP2 feeder class. It is run by GP2 team boss Paolo Coloni, and has already attracted entries from the DAMS team.

Former Champ Car racer Dan Clarke is eyeing a move into Formula 2 next season and has signed up for the series’ first winter test at Valencia this week. The 26-year-old Briton raced for the HVM/Minardi Team USA outfit in Champ Car in 2006 and 2007, and for Team Great Britain in A1GP in 2008. Lotus F1 Racing does not need to place a Malaysian driver in one of its race seats in 2010, according to team principal Tony Fernandes, but the team is keen to run a driver from that part of the world in the future. Fernandes, a successful Malaysian entrepreneur who launched Air Asia, is keen for the team to create a platform for driver development in South East Asia. But he insists that the team will only be willing to run a Malaysian driver if they are ready for Formula 1

A1GP has called off its planned opening rounds in Surfers Paradise but series boss Tony Teixeira insists the championship is not dead. American driver unlikely for US F1

Team US F1 is unlikely to run an all-American driver line up when it comes into Formula 1 next year, and could end up not running one in either seat. Team principal Peter Windsor told AUTOSPORT that because of the delays caused by the late signing of the Concorde Agreement at the end of July and the lack of suitable American candidates, it is likely to employ at least one overseas driver. “Because of all the time we’ve lost, our ambition to run two young Americans is looking more difficult,” Windsor told AUTOSPORT.

Massa returns to Ferrari simulator

Felipe Massa completed six hours of running in Ferrari’s simulator in Modena yesterday as he continued his recovery programme in preparation for returning to Formula 1. The Brazilian is working with the team all week in readiness for his first test since sustaining serious head injuries in a crash in Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying at the end of July. Massa is scheduled to test a 2007 Ferrari F1 car fitted with GP2 tyres sometime after this week.
