    iRacing.com Series Writer
Chris Hall has been writing since the nineties and moved into motorsports reporting in 2005, covering series such as ALMS, British GT, FIA GT, Le Mans and 2CV racing for Full Throttle magazine, Motorsport.com, The-Paddock.net, GTGateway.com, L' Endurance and, of course, inRacingNews. During 2008 and 2009, he worked with the RSS Performance Porsche Carrera Cup Team (and former British GT(C) champions) as a data engineer for a variety of drivers and models of 997s.

19 years old, Jameson Spies lives in Quartz Hill, California. He grew-up surrounded by racing. His mother raced late models throughout Southern California while his father built and setup the car. Not surprisingly, Jameson began racing go-karts at the age of 13, and is now racing Spec Trucks at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. He has a passion about all forms of racing and hopes to make a career out of it.
  • Jason Lofing
    iRacing.com Series Writer
Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.
  • Ray Bryden
    Technical contributor
Ray grew up in Nova Scotia, which means he’s a hockey nut, but in Nova Scotia’s two non-winter months he had to find other diversions, which meant watching F1 racing on weekends with his dad and brothers. Without the resources to get started in racing, he gravitated to computer versions of racing – first Atari games like Pole Position, followed by PC racing games like Indianapolis 500: The Simulation. Dozens of others came and went, until Grand Prix Legends came along and he decided sim-racing was his official hobby. Years were spent enjoying this both offline and online until a few years of fatherhood took priority. When free-time reappeared he heard about iRacing and signed up in 2008 and became so involved in the service that he wrote one of the first books on the subject of sim-racing, iRacing Paddock. When not writing for inRacingNews.com, his main occupation is as a research associate with Saint-Gobain working on advanced ceramic materials.

A business manager by profession, but also dabbles with blogging, cartooning and fine art, having been published both as a writer in a short-lived South Australian motorsport yearbook and later as a cartoonist in a niche trade magazine. At the age of 19 he competed in club circuit events in an Austin Healey Sprite, later indulging in sprint karts between 1994 and 2000. Following the move to the State of Victoria he raced Road Race Karts (“Superkarts” as they are known in Australia) in the popular Rotax class, competing at Phillip Island, Oran Park, Mallala, Wakefield Park, Eastern Creek, Calder Park, Sandown and Winton. It was during this time he met former Australian F2 champion and inventor of Australia’s first, and most prolific race simulator rig, Jon Crooke. This culminated in an introduction to Papyrus’ legendary NR2003 simulation, and the subsequent sim racing addiction which brought him to iRacing.
  • Tim Terry
    Contributing Writer
Tim Terry, aka the voice of Maritime stock car racing, fell in love with sim racing in 2004 after he joined the Sim Racing Network crew as a pit reporter. From October 2004 to SRNtv’s closure in June 2007, he’s covered prestigious races and leagues such as the Online 500, FLM Fall 400, Real Racing Online and the DMP Racing League – each as the lead broadcaster for the company. At the same time the wheels started to turn in another direction as he began announcing stock car racing locally. Terry became the assistant announcer at Scotia Speedworld in May 2007 and took over full duties in May 2009 when long-time voice Mike Kaplan retired from the track. Terry also became the series voice of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in ’09 and continues to hold down both posts in 2011. Aston wins as Dyson takes title

Stefan Mucke, Adrian Fernandez and Harold Primat gave Aston Martin Racing a boost in what has been a miserable season by winning the American Le Mans Series’ six-hour race at Laguna Seca. Dyson Racing’s Chris Dyson and Guy Smith clinched the LMP1 title with second place, despite some late dramas for their co-driver Jay Cochran looking like they might delay the championship celebration.

Dyson sweeps Laguna front row

Dyson’s Lola-Mazdas filled the front row in qualifying for the American Le Mans Series’ six hour race at Laguna Seca, with championship leaders Guy Smith and Chris Dyson, plus third driver Jay Cochran, taking pole. Smith had brought the car in with a suspected misfire after its out-lap, but the problem appeared to clear itself, allowing the Briton to set a 1m13.927s to earn the top spot. His team-mate Steven Kane, who had dominated LMP1 qualifying up to that point, ended up 0.694s adrift in second

Kane, Al Masaood claim maiden win

Dyson Racing’s rookie duo Steven Kane and Humaid Al Masaood scored their first American Le Mans Series victory in the two-hour race around the new Baltimore street circuit. Kane led home a Dyson Lola-Mazda one-two, with LMP1 championship leaders Guy Smith and Chris Dyson having to settle for second. Dyson had edged away from Al Masaood in the first stint, but then lost a lot of time in his pitstop, allowing Kane to make a break in the second half of the race, and ultimately win with a 6.9-second cushion despite Smith’s best efforts

Guy Smith earned Dyson Racing pole position for ALMS’ inaugural race at Baltimore, edging out the sister Lola-Mazda of Steven Kane by just over 0.1s. Smith had held top spot from his opening lap, but as grip levels improved Kane looked like he may have stolen pole, moving 0.015s clear with just one minute remaining.

August 21st, 2011

Muscle Milk Lola-Aston Martin duo Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr inched closer to Dyson’s Guy Smith and Chris Dyson in the American Le Mans Series title race by taking their fourth win of the year in the Road America round. Though the Lola-Aston had looked comfortable in the lead in the middle section of the four-hour event, the Dyson Lola-Mazda had a second wind in Smith’s hands in the last half hour and put Graf under huge pressure through the final laps.

Luhr and Graf win in Mid-Ohio deluge

August 6th, 2011

8

Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf gave the Muscle Milk Lola-Aston squad its second straight ALMS victory as a late deluge caused the race to be halted 15 minutes from the finish. Luhr assumed control of the race with just over an hour to run, jumping the pole-sitting Dyson Lola-Mazda of Guy Smith and Simon Dyson – which had led for much of the race – at a restart before easing away at the head of the field. Luhr then handed over to Graf, who had to survive a huge rainstorm and a spate of safety cars in the final 30 minutes.

Guy Smith took his third pole position of the season for Saturday’s American Le Mans Series race at Mid Ohio, having delivered on his promise from first practice. For five laps or so Klaus Graf – fastest in second practice – was the only man on track with the Muscle Milk Lola Aston Martin. The German set a best time of 1m12.892s, but once the Dyson Mazda Lolas went on track, that all changed

The Muscle Milk Lola-Aston Martin of Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf notched up its second American Le Mans Series race win of the year at Mosport Park. Luhr absolutely dominated the opening stages, stretching out a 54-second advantage over Chris Dyson’s Dyson Lola-Mazda in the first half hour.

Klaus Graf and the Muscle Milk team rebounded from a practice crash to take LMP1 pole position for the American Le Mans Series’ Mosport Park round. Dyson and Smith win at Lime Rock

July 9th, 2011

Guy Smith and Chris Dyson took Dyson Racing’s #16 Lola-Mazda to victory in the American Le Mans Series’ Lime Rock round after a long battle with the Muscle Milk Lola-Aston Martin of Klaus Graf and Lucas Luhr. The two LMP1 cars fought hard in the first half of the race, with Luhr all over the back of pole-starter Dyson and making endless attempts to pass during the opening laps. Just past the half-hour mark, Luhr finally found a way through, and then instantly picked up an advantage when Dyson had to take an escape road detour to avoid a spinning LMPC car.

Dyson, BMW top ALMS qualifying

July 8th, 2011

The Dyson Lola-Mazda and BMW squads led the way in LMP1 and GT qualifying respectively as the American Le Mans Series resumed at a slightly damp Lime Rock following its break for the Le Mans 24 Hours. Chris Dyson put his team’s #16 car on pole with a 45.708s lap, as series newcomer Steven Kane made a highly promising debut by completing an all-Dyson front row in the returning #20 entry, which the former McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner will share with Humaid Al Masaood for the rest of the year

The Muscle Milk Lola-Aston Martin was a dominant overall winner of the American Le Mans Series’ two-hour Long Beach race, while Joey Hand and Dirk Muller came out on top for the Rahal Letterman Lanigan-run BMW squad in the ultra-competitive GT field. Lucas Luhr attacked and passed the polesitting Dyson Lola-Mazda during the opening lap, and although Chris Dyson stayed on the Aston-powered car’s tail at first, Muscle Milk was soon striding away, with Luhr able to hand over to team-mate Klaus Graf with a comfortable lead, which Graf extended to a minute before the race ended under yellow following a GTC crash. In GT, Hand made an early break by passing a couple of LMPC tailenders to give himself a buffer over the chasing pack.

Smith beats Graf to Long Beach pole

April 16th, 2011

9

Dyson Racing’s Guy Smith backed up his practice pace to take pole position for round two of the American Le Mans Series at Long Beach in a depleted LMP1 field. The 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours winner was 0.452s faster in the Lola-Mazda coupe than his nearest challenger – the Muscle Milk Lola Aston Martin driven by Klaus Graf. Despite these two cars being the only runners in the 15 minute qualifying session, the battle between them was close enough to suggest that the race at the front could be heated

Only one of the latest generation Peugeots ran today, but the Franck Montagny/Stephane Sarrazin/Pedro Lamy car set the quickest time of the opening day in the morning session with a 1m47.678s. That beat Audi’s Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller by 0.347 seconds, while the new LMP1 version of the HPD got off to an impressive start with David Brabham taking the car to third in only its second test.
