    19 years old, Jameson Spies lives in Quartz Hill, California. He grew-up surrounded by racing. His mother raced late models throughout Southern California while his father built and setup the car. Not surprisingly, Jameson began racing go-karts at the age of 13, and is now racing Spec Trucks at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.     Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.

    Tim Terry, aka the voice of Maritime stock car racing, fell in love with sim racing in 2004 after he joined the Sim Racing Network crew as a pit reporter. From October 2004 to SRNtv’s closure in June 2007, he’s covered prestigious races and leagues such as the Online 500, FLM Fall 400, Real Racing Online and the DMP Racing League – each as the lead broadcaster for the company. At the same time the wheels started to turn in another direction as he began announcing stock car racing locally. Terry became the assistant announcer at Scotia Speedworld in May 2007 and took over full duties in May 2009 when long-time voice Mike Kaplan retired from the track. Terry also became the series voice of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in ’09 and continues to hold down both posts in 2011. He has also announced races for the Pro All Stars Series, Atlantic Open Wheel and Maritime League of Legends tours and has called races at six different Atlantic Canadian tracks. Terry can be heard online at WebRacingNetwork.com, RLMtv.com and OLRtv.com covering sim races. He also makes occasional appearances on PSRtv.com. Nissan teams threaten GT1 boycott

The two Nissan teams competing in the new FIA GT1 World Championship have threatened to boycott the next round and to launch a protest unless the weight penalty heaped on the GT-R ahead of the Abu Dhabi series opener is removed, this week’s AUTOSPORT magazine reveals. The Swiss Racing Team run by Othmar Welti insisted that it would not race again with the 30kg penalty that rendered the Nissan GT-R uncompetitive in last weekend’s Abu Dhabi event

The second round of the GT1 World Championship, on Silverstone’s new Arena GP layout next weekend, despite the disruption to European travel caused by the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull. Series organiser SRO had feared that the teams, cars and equipment would not be able to get to Britain from last weekend’s season opener in Abu Dhabi in the two-week break. But two cargo planes carrying the cars and equipment land in Luxembourg this morning and two charter flights will get the teams and series personnel into Austria on Thursday

Chevrolet Corvette drivers Marc Hennerici and Andi Zuber triumphed in the qualifying race at the first round of the new FIA GT1 World Championship in Abu Dhabi. The Phoenix/Carsport Corvette C6.R led through until the mandatory round of pitstops in the middle of the one-hour race in the hands of Hennerici, and emerged still in front with Zuber at the wheel after the stops were complete.

No surgery required for Gachnang

Swiss driver Natacha Gachnang will not require surgery after her dramatic accident in qualifying for the inaugural FIA GT1 World Championship race at Abu Dhabi. Gachnang, 22, sustained what was described as a simple fracture of her right tibia in the accident, which happened at the end of the Yas Marina circuit’s long back straight.

Qualifying for the inaugural FIA GT1 World Championship event in Abu Dhabi has been interrupted by a serious accident involving the Matech Competition Ford GT driven by Natacha Gachnang. The Swiss driver went straight on at the end of the Yas Marina circuit’s kilometre-long back straight, on which the Fords were achieving top speeds approaching 170mph.

Former Renault Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean will return to racing in the new GT1 World Championship this year. The 23-year-old French/Swiss racer has signed to race a Ford for the Matech team alongside Thomas Mutsch. Grosjean takes the spot originally earmarked for Enrique Bernoldi before the Brazilian parted company with the team during testing.
