    19 years old, Jameson Spies lives in Quartz Hill, California. He grew-up surrounded by racing. His mother raced late models throughout Southern California while his father built and setup the car. Not surprisingly, Jameson began racing go-karts at the age of 13, and is now racing Spec Trucks at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. He has a passion about all forms of racing and hopes to make a career out of it.

    Jason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.

    Ray grew up in Nova Scotia, which means he’s a hockey nut, but in Nova Scotia’s two non-winter months he had to find other diversions, which meant watching F1 racing on weekends with his dad and brothers. Without the resources to get started in racing, he gravitated to computer versions of racing – first Atari games like Pole Position, followed by PC racing games like Indianapolis 500: The Simulation. Dozens of others came and went, until Grand Prix Legends came along and he decided sim-racing was his official hobby. Years were spent enjoying this both offline and online until a few years of fatherhood took priority. When free-time reappeared he heard about iRacing and signed up in 2008 and became so involved in the service that he wrote one of the first books on the subject of sim-racing, iRacing Paddock. When not writing for inRacingNews.com, his main occupation is as a research associate with Saint-Gobain working on advanced ceramic materials.

    Patrick Atherton, originally from Adelaide in the state of South Australia, currently resides just outside of Melbourne, Victoria with wife of 17 years and 3 kids. A business manager by profession, but also dabbles with blogging, cartooning and fine art, having been published both as a writer in a short-lived South Australian motorsport yearbook and later as a cartoonist in a niche trade magazine. At the age of 19 he competed in club circuit events in an Austin Healey Sprite, later indulging in sprint karts between 1994 and 2000. Following the move to the State of Victoria he raced Road Race Karts (“Superkarts” as they are known in Australia) in the popular Rotax class, competing at Phillip Island, Oran Park, Mallala, Wakefield Park, Eastern Creek, Calder Park, Sandown and Winton. It was during this time he met former Australian F2 champion and inventor of Australia’s first, and most prolific race simulator rig, Jon Crooke. This culminated in an introduction to Papyrus’ legendary NR2003 simulation, and the subsequent sim racing addiction which brought him to iRacing.

    Tim Terry, aka the voice of Maritime stock car racing, fell in love with sim racing in 2004 after he joined the Sim Racing Network crew as a pit reporter. From October 2004 to SRNtv’s closure in June 2007, he’s covered prestigious races and leagues such as the Online 500, FLM Fall 400, Real Racing Online and the DMP Racing League – each as the lead broadcaster for the company. At the same time the wheels started to turn in another direction as he began announcing stock car racing locally. Terry became the assistant announcer at Scotia Speedworld in May 2007 and took over full duties in May 2009 when long-time voice Mike Kaplan retired from the track. Terry also became the series voice of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in ’09 and continues to hold down both posts in 2011. He has also announced races for the Pro All Stars Series, Atlantic Open Wheel and Maritime League of Legends tours and has called races at six different Atlantic Canadian tracks. Terry can be heard online at WebRacingNetwork.com, RLMtv.com and OLRtv.com covering sim races. He also makes occasional appearances on PSRtv.com. Priaulx recovering well after operation

Triple World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx has spoken of his relief after an operation to remove a lump on his thyroid gland was successful. The Briton, who will miss the Nurburgring 24 Hours and next weekend’s Intercontinental Le Mans Cup race at Imola, first discovered the lump during a routine check-up shortly before the Le Mans 24 Hours, in which he took a podium in the BMW M3 GT

Williamson secures first GP3 pole

Lewis Williamson (MW Arden) scored his maiden GP3 pole position in qualifying for the first race of the weekend in Valencia. Last year’s McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner moved to the top of the times in the final minute of the session, having been on the fringes of the fight for pole throughout the 30 minutes.

The Frenchman took pole position for the season opener with Carlin in Turkey last month, but skipped the Barcelona races. Allan McNish says he is raring to go ahead of the fourth round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup at Imola next weekend, having completed a trouble-free test in Germany following his crash at Le Mans. Chrysler evaluating GT return

Chrysler is evaluating a return to international GT competition with the next generation of Viper, according to this week’s AUTOSPORT magazine. The US giant, which took a hat-trick of GTS class wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours from 1998-2000 with the original Viper Coupe, has began to look at the possibility of taking on BMW, Ferrari, Chevrolet and Porsche in the GTE category

Davidson, Bourdais to share at Imola

Peugeot duo Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Bourdais will share a car for the first time at the next round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup at Imola next weekend. British driver Davidson won the Spa round in May in the number seven Peugeot 908 with Marc Gene and Alex Wurz while Bourdais has usually driven the number nine machine with Pedro Lamy and Simon Pagenaud. With only two of the turbodiesel machine entered for Imola, Bourdais will move across to Davidson’s 908 while the number eight car will be driven by regular occupants Franck Montagny and Stephane Sarrazin.

Toyota has been testing an all-new LMP1 car since last year, and could return to the Le Mans 24 Hours as early as 2012, according to this week’s AUTOSPORT magazine. The Japanese manufacturer commissioned the machine, which is known to incorporate hybrid technology and comply with the 2011 prototype technical regulations, from racing car constructor Dome. When asked about the possibility of Toyota returning to top-line prototype racing, Vincent Beaumesnil, sporting manager of Le Mans organiser the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, said: “We are in contact with many manufacturers who are interested in LMP1, not just Toyota.” Toyota last competed at Le Mans as a full manufacturer in 1999, but supplied engines to the Rebellion LMP1 squad on a customer basis this year.

Two-time Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip says he would ‘love’ to return to the Le Mans 24 Hours after an eventful first outing at La Sarthe in a AF Corse-run Ferrari 458. The 48-year-old American, who shared a GTE AM car with Portuguese driver Rui Aguas and rookie Robert Kauffman, was forced to retire from the race after 178 laps with a differential failure but described the experience as being like nothing he had seen before in racing. “It’s just amazing,” he told AUTOSPORT.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard said that he is excited by the prospect of seeing the DeltaWing racing at Le Mans next year, despite having decided that the concept was not suitable for IndyCar racing. The design, which was developed by Chip Ganassi Racing under the eye of Ben Bowlby, was among those vying to be selected by IndyCar for its next generation of technical regulations. The series opted instead for a Dallara design, and a reworked version of the DeltaWing was revealed last week ahead of a Le Mans entry in 2012.

Alex Wurz has vowed to work hard to put Peugeot in contention for victory in next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours race after suffering defeat at the hands of Audi last weekend. The 37-year-old Austrian was livid with himself after the race, having made a mistake in the 18th hour and crashing at Indianapolis which cost he and his team-mates Anthony Davidson and Marc Gene in the #7 908 four laps in repairs, and potentially a place on the podium.

Graves Motorsport duo Tom Kimber-Smith and Olivier Lombard were elated with their performance in Le Mans, after their Zytek-Nissan dominated the LMP2 class to win by more than seven laps. Britain’s Kimber-Smith, who first raced in Le Mans in 2007 with Panoz but hadn’t been back since, insisted the team’s strategy of a low-risk approach to the race had paid dividends.
