Whincup back on pole in dry
November 20th, 2011
Jamie Whincup got his V8 Supercars title bid back on course by taking pole position for race two at Sandown. Yesterday’s wet race had seen Whincup lose ground to title rival and Triple Eight Holden team-mate Craig Lowndes as he slipped to 13th in the tricky conditions while Lowndes surged through from the back row of the grid to finish sixth. But in dry conditions this morning, Whincup knocked Garry Rogers Holden driver Lee Holdsworth off the top spot with two minutes to go with a 1m09.6789s lap, having seen earlier pole shots go awry with quick trips off the road
Rick Kelly takes victory in rain
November 19th, 2011
Rick Kelly took victory in the wet in the first of this weekend’s Sandown V8 Supercar races, as points leader Jamie Whincup tumbled back to 13th place and lost ground to title rival Craig Lowndes. That championship twist had looked highly unlikely after qualifying, when Whincup had joined Kelly on the front row and his Triple Eight Holden team-mate Lowndes had struggled to 27th. But while Whincup quickly recovered from fourth to second following a slow start, as the race progressed he steadily lost ground – dropping back at restarts particularly in an event that featured three safety car interruptions, and admitting that the ever-worsening conditions had made him very uneasy
Rick Kelly on pole at wet Sandown
November 19th, 2011
Rick Kelly made the best of wet conditions at Sandown to secure pole position for race one of the penultimate event of the V8 Supercars season.
Huff battled pain to grab Macau pole
November 18th, 2011
Rob Huff has revealed that he had to battle the pain barrier as he grabbed pole position for the World Touring Car Championship finale in Macau on Friday. Huff was locked in a tight tussle with Chevrolet team-mate and title rival Yvan Muller for the top spot in Q2 – and delivered a brilliant effort to grab the top spot despite brushing the barriers at the exit of the final corner. But the real reason for that late incident was that Huff was struck down with cramp for the final corners of the lap – which meant he could not feel his right foot.

Robert Dahlgren and Freddy Barth will both be forced to miss the season finale of the World Touring Car Championship in Macau on Sunday following their accidents earlier today.

Huff quickest, Barth has big crash
November 18th, 2011
Rob Huff maintained Chevrolet’s dominance of the World Touring Car Championship season finale in Macau by setting the fastest time in second practice on Friday, but the session was red-flagged after a fiery accident involving Fredy Barth. As Huff edged out team-mates Alain Menu and Yvan Muller – with the trio separated by 0.129 seconds – the running had to be stopped when Barth crashed heavily at Faraway shortly before the scheduled end of the session
Menu leads opening Macau practice
November 18th, 2011
Alain Menu led the way during first practice for the World Touring Car Championship season finale in Macau on Friday, but tricky weather conditions meant drivers were adopting a cautious approach. The Swiss driver swapped the top spot on the timesheets with Chevrolet team-mates Rob Huff and Yvan Muller for much of the 30-minute session, as the drying track meant lap times improved throughout. Although a dry line did appear in the closing minutes of practice, it was not quite dry enough for anyone to try slicks – but second practice will almost certainly be dry enough for that
Taniguchi to miss Macau
November 17th, 2011
Yukinori Taniguchi has been ruled out of this weekend’s final round of the World Touring Car Championship at Macau following a crash at Tianma last time out.

Whincup gives Holden 400th victory
November 13th, 2011
Jamie Whincup stretched his V8 Supercars championship lead to 194 points with two events remaining and gave Holden its 400th win in the series as he fended off the Ford Performance Racing cars to take his second triumph of the weekend at Symmons Plains. Triple Eight driver Whincup had started only third behind FPR’s Paul Dumbrell and Mark Winterbottom, and lost another place to Shane van Gisbergen (Stone Brothers Ford) off the line.
Dumbrell earns V8 race two pole
November 13th, 2011
Paul Dumbrell grabbed pole position for the second V8 Supercars race at Symmons Plains, while championship leader Jamie Whincup qualified 12 places ahead of his title rival and Triple Eight Holden team-mate Craig Lowndes. Whincup held pole for much of the middle of the session before the Ford Performance Racing cars of first Mark Winterbottom, then Friday practice pacesetter Dumbrell jumped ahead in the closing moments. Dumbrell was able to take the second pole of his V8 career with a 51.3062s lap, 0.0231 seconds quicker than Winterbottom

November 12th, 2011
Canadian driver Gary Kwok will replace Colin Turkington at the Wiechers-Sport team for the final round of the World Touring Car Championship at Macau. Jamie Whincup notched up yet another win in race one of V8 Supercars’ Symmons Plain event, leading team-mate and title rival Craig Lowndes in a Triple Eight Holden one-two. Whincup was beaten off the line by Mark Winterbottom, but managed to repass the Ford Performance Racing car at Turn 6 on lap 11 of 50

Neuville leads Golden Stage
November 6th, 2011
Thierry Neuville took the early lead in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge’s non-championship Golden Stage season finale. The live televised event sees crews make two passes through a single mixed-surface 19 kilometre stage in Cyprus, with a 30,000 euro prize for the winner. Last year’s IRC champion and current S2000 World Rally champion Juho Hanninen held the early advantage on the splits on this morning’s opening run, but the Skoda man was outpaced by Neuville’s Kronos Peugeot on the final stretch – with the Belgian emerging fastest by 4.8 seconds.
Muller stretches lead with race two win
November 6th, 2011
Yvan Muller extended his championship lead with a dominant victory in the second of today’s World Touring Car races at the Tianma circuit near Shanghai. The Frenchman made a good start from fourth on the grid to gain a place on the run to the first corner, and then capitalised on a skirmish between Gabriele Tarquini and Rob Huff ahead of him to pass the latter for second.
