AUTOSPORT voted best F1 magazine
December 23rd, 2011
AUTOSPORT magazine has been voted by fans as the best motor sport publication for Formula 1 coverage in the inaugural Silverstone Media Awards.
More than 5,000 fans cast their votes across a number of categories for both F1 and MotoGP, both of which count Silverstone as their British home.
While The Times/Sunday Times won best national newspaper for both Formula 1 and MotoGP coverage, AUTOSPORT was voted as best motor sport publication for Formula 1 coverage.
AUTOSPORT’S MotoGP expert Toby Moody was also honoured as fans voted him the best MotoGP Tweeter – an accolade BBC anchor Jake Humphrey received in the F1 category.
Katie Tyler, Silverstone’s head of communications, said the inaugural running of the awards had given fans the chance to acknowledge and show their appreciation for the media platforms from which they got their news.
“We have had a fantastic response to the first Silverstone Media Awards,” Tyler explained. “An incredible 5,129 fans have cast their votes, so it has been a huge success.
“We hope it means just as much to the winners of each category, as they have been voted for and recognised by the fans. We look forward to presenting each winner with a trophy to acknowledge their contribution.”
