Oran Park Raceway and Circuit Zolder Join iRacing
by David Phillips on December 1st, 2009
Two celebrated race tracks half a world apart are set to become a part of iRacing.com. Circuit Zolder, a home of the Belgian Grand Prix during the 1970s and ’80s, will join Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Zandvoort among iRacing’s first European circuits, while Oran Park Raceway will pair with Phillip Island as the first two Australian facilities on the service.

Oran Park's distinctive figure 8 layout is one of three configurations that will be available on iRacing.com.
The addition of Oran Park’s distinctive figure-eight layout to the iRacing service is especially noteworthy given that the suburban Sydney facility is slated for demolition in early 2010 to make way for a housing development.
“Oran Park Raceway has played an important role in the history of Australian motorsport,” noted Divina Galica, director of partner relations for iRacing.com. “Too many great race tracks have been lost forever; I’m pleased that we’re able to preserve this digital version of Oran Park and make it available to racers all over the world.”
Zolder is an integral part of iRacing’s plans to incorporate the top European circuits into the service in the coming years. But for now, the combination of Zolder and Zandvoort at least gives iRacing.com a monopoly on major European circuits beginning with letter Z.

The former home of the Belgian Grand Prix will join iRacing.com in 2010.
“Zolder is our second track on the continent of Europe, after Zandvoort,” Galica continued. “In the fullness of time we’ll have quite a few more, but it’s exciting to have two such challenging driver’s circuits to begin with.”

December 2nd, 2009 at 4:55 amZolder is very nice but why not Spa-Francorchamps. Everyone knows that this track is better than Zolder in all ways.
But i’m very happy that there are adding more and more European tracks to the simulation.

December 3rd, 2009 at 8:15 pmSpa would be terrific. Really happy to see more International tracks. The European/International sim market is about 5 times larger than the US market, so more across the pond cars and tracks will help increase iRacing membership.

January 25th, 2010 at 4:35 pmSpa would be awesome, Nazareth and Nashville should be on top of the list before they are gone forever.
