Time Trials Down to the Wire
by Tony Rickard on October 30th, 2009
The 2009 Season 3 Time Trial Championships have drawn to a conclusion with the final battles in the Advanced Legends, Silver Crown and Impala SS going down to the final runs.

Advanced Legends, one of Bye's two TT titles.
It certainly was an exciting week for Californian Jeff Bye Jr. In the Advanced Legends he secured first place at South Boston from rival David Osborne from Carolina who got second. The pair finished the championship separated by just one point in favour of Bye Jr.
Not content with that, Bye Jr. managed a second place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Silver Crown which, with Ohio driver Dave Hoffman in third place, was enough to secure a second title. Hoffman finished the season just two points behind. Congratulations Jeff!

Lotus 79 and Star Mazda went to Baraldi.
Another driver picking up two titles is Italian Alberto Baraldi. He won both the Lotus 79 and the Star Mazda time trial championships, a great result.

SK Modifieds and Late Model were dominated by Greer.
The third driver to pick up two titles did so in the most perfect style. Rusty Greer from Carolina achieved an incredible maximum score of 800 points in both the Late Model and the SK Modified, mopping up both Class D oval championships.
Completing the oval championships, Virginias driver Brandan Gray won the Impala SS time trial championship whilst Dennis Smith from Georgia took the Impala Class B title. The Silverado championship went to Atlantic driver Jesse Atchison.
On the road racing side, another driver managed a perfect 800 as Italian Mario Bovolo achieved the maximum in the iRacing Radical time trial championship. Young charger Peter Read from Australia mopped up the Prototype championship, whilst in the Jetta TDi it was the French driver, Bruno Le Doare who took top honours.
DE-AT-CH drivers Andreas Leicht and Elmar Erlekotte won the Skip Barber and Spec Racer Ford time trial championships, respectively, completing what proved to be an international affair.
Congratulations to all our time trial winners.
Next season will see the Corvette and Dallara IndyCar championships added to the list and we look forward to another intense season of time trial battles.
