Bayne Lands With Roush Fenway
September 30th, 2010
CONCORD, N.C. — It didn’t take long for Trevor Bayne to find a new home.
Bayne, who was released from his contract at Diamond-Waltrip Racing earlier this week, has signed a contract with Roush Fenway Racing. He is currently seventh in the Nationwide Series standings with three poles, five top fives and 10 top 10s this season.
“We are pleased to be able to sign a driver of both Trevor’s caliber and character,” said team owner Jack Roush. “Trevor has exhibited a distinctive ability to run fast, up front and compete side-by-side with veteran drivers in a relatively short amount of time. We feel that he possesses all of the tools necessary to grow into a top-level driver and we look forward to working with him to hone his skills as we move forward down the road.”
Bayne, 19, will pilot the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race this weekend in Kansas. The team plans to enter Bayne in the final six races on the schedule.
“I am just really excited to have the opportunity to drive,” said Bayne. “We are looking forward to a great relationship with Roush Fenway, and I’m eager to go racing with Jack Roush and everyone at the organization. I can’t wait to get everything started this weekend in Kansas.”
Diamond-Waltrip Racing held an option on Bayne’s contract, but one of the stipulations in the contract required the team to have sponsorship lined up for the 2011 season. The team was unable to meet that requirement and Bayne was subsequently released.
Prior to the entering the Nationwide Series Bayne, who hails from Knoxville, Tenn., made 15 starts in the NASCAR K&N East Series, tallying one win, six top fives, nine top 10s and two poles.
With the addition of Bayne, Roush Fenway Racing will have three drivers competing in the Nationwide Series that are currently inside the top 10 in the series’ standings. The others are Carl Edwards and Paul Menard.

February 24th, 2012 at 5:40 pmI like Trevor and Ricky and want to see them seceucd and stay with Roush and Ford, but this article is stupid. Fire a diver who has three wins, is third in points and is a past champion? That is just stupid. Thankfully Jack isn’t stupid.
