INDIANAPOLIS — The historic Indianapolis Raceway Park has changed names again. After a several year stint as O’Reilly Raceway Park, naming rights at the multi-purpose NHRA-owned facility have been acquired by Lucas Oil Products.
The multi-year track entitlement agreement gives Lucas Oil Products naming rights to the legendary facility, host of the famed Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil, the world’s most prestigious drag race, and the Kroger SpeedFest, which showcases NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series races as well as USAC and ARCA Series races during a single weekend.
Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis thrives as one of the busiest auto racing venues in the United States and features a world-class drag strip, .686-mile asphalt oval and a 2.5-mile road course.
“We are extremely proud of the relationship we have developed with Lucas Oil Products over the years and are pleased to see the company expand its involvement with NHRA through this very important track entitlement,” said Tom Compton, president, NHRA. “As the host of the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals and Kroger SpeedFest along with many other key auto racing events, Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis is already recognized as one of the most tradition-rich and versatile multi-use motorsports facilities in the world.”
“We feel that it is very important for Lucas Oil Products to have major involvement with one of the nation’s busiest auto racing facilities that happens to operate right in our own backyard,” said Forrest Lucas, president, Lucas Oil Products. “We have had great success marketing our products through a variety of NHRA platforms over the years and we see great potential through this latest opportunity and take great pride in placing our company name on this historic racing venue, Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.”
