Jameson Spies

Jason Lofing
iRacing.com Series WriterJason is 21 years old and was born and raised in Elk Grove. California. A big time NASCAR fan, he hasn’t missed a race on Sunday in years. Lofing is also a huge San Fransisco Giants fan and tries to take in at least a couple games a year. Other than sim racing, his biggest (and far more expensive!) hobby is photography. Although he is rather new to sim racing, Lofing has already accomplished some pretty impressive results, qualifying for the 2011 iRacing Oval Pro Series in Season 1, 2011, winning the inaugural Landon Cassill Qualifying Challenge and finishing runner-up in the second one.
Tim Terry
Contributing WriterTim Terry, aka the voice of Maritime stock car racing, fell in love with sim racing in 2004 after he joined the Sim Racing Network crew as a pit reporter. From October 2004 to SRNtv’s closure in June 2007, he’s covered prestigious races and leagues such as the Online 500, FLM Fall 400, Real Racing Online and the DMP Racing League – each as the lead broadcaster for the company. At the same time the wheels started to turn in another direction as he began announcing stock car racing locally. Terry became the assistant announcer at Scotia Speedworld in May 2007 and took over full duties in May 2009 when long-time voice Mike Kaplan retired from the track. Terry also became the series voice of the Parts For Trucks Pro Stock Tour in ’09 and continues to hold down both posts in 2011. He has also announced races for the Pro All Stars Series, Atlantic Open Wheel and Maritime League of Legends tours and has called races at six different Atlantic Canadian tracks. Allen Krier

Chris Cunningham
Contributing WriterChris is 20 years old, and recently moved to Charlotte, NC during his sophomore year in college to feed his need for speed. More than just an auto racing enthusiast, Cunningham has risen through the ranks of BMX Racing, Sailboat Racing, and Cycling. Cunningham recently took up go karting, and qualified as an alternate for the 2011 Red Bull Kart Fight at the PRI expo. Aside from racing, Cunningham has recently picked up the hobby of competitive eating (Ranked #7 Collegiate Eater in the country!), and competes all over the east coast in various contests. Tim Doyle
Contributing WriterI've been a race fan since before I can remember, going to dirt tracks around the Washington, DC area since the early 70's with my parents. I got away from racing during my school years but in 1989 a friend and I went to a race in Hagerstown, MD and from there my life was all about racing. I currently live in Winchester, VA and while Dirt Late Models is my favorite form of racing, I also enjoy many other forms such as F1, IndyCar, 410 sprint cars on dirt and (probably more than anything) sim racing. My favorite driver is Ayrton Senna.
I was introduced to sim racing in 1989 when a friend turned me onto Indy 500 The Sim by Papyrus. It took me a few years to own my own PC but once I did, all I wanted to do was sim race. I tried to race my friends as much as possible via modem racing back in the 90's before joining TEN in 1998. From there I devoted a lot of time to online racing enjoying every minute of it. I was able to meet a lot of my competitors from all over the world at LAN events and races I went to. Being able to call some real world drivers friends as a result of sim racing is probably the neatest part of this whole deal!
David Roberts

After racing in Europe, David returned down under to swap a career behind the wheel for a career in the creative department. I’ve always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I’ve won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.
Osborn, Engelhart Set Sail at SoBo

While Herb Engelhart will go down in the record books as the overall winner from Round Six of the NASCAR iRacing .comTour Modifed Series (NiTMS) at South Boston Speedway, it was Brett Osborn who made one of the biggest statements of the week. Osborn took one of the top two online races of the week, which set the tone when it comes to the weekly standings at the Virginia track.
Osborn’s win came in Thursday’s 3102 Strength of Field (SoF) race in which he led 47 of 120 laps at the famed Virginia short track. David Colley was second, followed by Rick Webster, Donny Moore and Thomas Zinninger. Six cautions slowed the race while three leaders swapped the lead twice and front row starters Jerold John (one lap) and Jamie Collier (72) led laps in the event.
Salvatore (3) came-out a distant second best in this moment with Engelhart (2).
Top finishers Osborn and Colley went on to make more starts on the week with Osborn taking six more green flags for the week, winning one and finishing in the top five thrice more to supplement his big win. He finished eleventh in the standings for the week out of 131 sim racers with 129 points. Colley meanwhile went on to take three additional starts, earning two more top five finishes and ending the week eighth with 143 points. Webster and Moore’s totals of 175 and 165 points, respectively, from the race in which Osborn was the victor were good enough to lock them into the third and fifth place positions after the week was completed.
In the second top race of the week, Engelhart moving to the win after some contact with teammate Brandon Salvatore left the defending Tour Modified champion with a bent-up car. “I was the benefactor of a get together between Brandon and myself while racing for the lead,” explained Engelhart after the race. “We were side-by-side and he got crashed out and I went on to win. Not exactly the way I like to do it but it has given me a little extra cushion in the point battle, and I’m sure I’ll need it!”

Engelhart went on to lead 35 laps en route to the win in the 3032 SoF race on Thursday. The margin of victory was one lap as he took the checkers first over Sean Rafferty, Bob Winslow, Nathan McGee and Collier. Seven cautions slowed the event and, as in the night’s previous race, Collier started from the pole and led the most laps (74). Engelhart scored 191 points for the win, which put him at the top of the charts for the week while Rafferty’s 180 points and Winslow’s 169 points slotted them into the second and fourth spots overall after racing at South Boston had concluded.
Collier was the busiest and most successful driver of the week – turning nine starts into three wins at “SoBo.” Osborn and Paul Wisniewski also scored a pair of wins a piece with Mark Tischler, Colt Christian, Justin Strumpf, Jeff Sharp, Jamie Damgar, Samuel Dick, Taylor Meyn and Engelhart each taking a checkered flag during Round Six. Collier also set fast qualifying time for the week with a blistering lap of 14.156 seconds. Engelhart, Salvatore, McGee and Osborn completed the fast five qualifiers. Curt Hunter took top honors in the Time Trial competition, besting Osborn, McGee, Mike Keirstead and Ray Farlow in that discipline of NiTMS competition.
With Week Six and SoBo in the mirrors, Engelhart now leads Salvatore by 234 points (1107 to 873), although Salvatore has competing in one less week than his Wide Open Racing stable mate. Kevin Walker is third with 748 points, just ahead of Division Two leader Farlow at 734 points. Wisniewski completes the top five overall with 728 markers. Winslow, Craig Weagle, Joe Gauthier, Kyle L Moquin, Kevin Sockow, David Ross, Jeffrey Haddock and Jeffrey Petit lead their respective skill-matched Divisions from Divisions Three to Ten after six weeks of racing in the 12 round schedule.
