GP3 announces 2010 calendar
December 21st, 2009
The GP3 calendar was announced today for the championship’s inaugural season next year.
The schedule consists of eight races, seven of which will take place in support of European grands prix.
Barcelona will host the opening round in May, then GP3 will support the GP2 standalone event at Portimao in June.
GP3 will then rejoin the F1 schedule at Valencia, Silverstone, Hockenheim, Budapest, Spa and concluding with the season finale at Monza.
Two pre-season tests will be held at Paul Ricard and a third at Barcelona ahead of the opening race.
The 10 teams that were announced in October will contest the 2010 season.
GP3 boss Bruno Michel said: “I’m very pleased with the inaugural calendar. Three test days and eight rounds means drivers will have a sizeable amount of running during the season.
“With seven rounds alongside Formula 1 we are confident the series will achieve excellent exposure for teams and drivers.
“Our driver line-up for the season is also starting to take shape and I’m confident that by the time the season kicks off in May we will have 30 highly-promising young drivers representing the series.”
