Ellinas tops first day at Valencia
December 1st, 2011

Tio Ellinas set the pace on the first day of GP3 testing at Jerez on Thursday for Manor Racing.
The Cypriot, a front-runner in Formula Renault UK this year, topped the morning session in 1m34.748, a time set just an hour into the session.
Despite a number of rivals improving their pace as the morning wore on, his time was still good enough to be 0.050s clear of MW Arden driver David Fumanelli.
Fumanelli turned the tide in the afternoon, lapping nearly 0.5s up on Ellinas, but with the times in the later session significantly slower, the latter was still the quickest overall on the opening day.
Matias Laine confirmed that his Barcelona test pace last week was no fluke with third fastest for Manor, while Maxim Zimin and Alex Fontana completed the top five for MW Arden and Tech 1.
Robert Visiou was sixth for Jenzer, ahead of Carlin’s Tom Blomqvist and ART’s Daniel Abt – the pace-setter at Barcelona.
Tamas Pal Kiss and Conor Daly completed the top 10 for Atech CRS and ART respectively.
