Lotus’s hopes of making further progress on track next season have been boosted with its new simulator now fully up and running. After months of development, Romain Grosjean was the first of its race drivers to try out the new simulator in Enstone ahead of the United States Grand Prix. The Frenchman said that there was still more calibration work to do before the team could be satisfied it was ready but, by the start of next season, the outfit should be on a good development path with it.

Grosjean confident of Lotus form
March 15th, 2012
Romain Grosjean is confident that Lotus can carry its strong testing form into the Australian Grand Prix weekend. The Franco-Swiss driver insists that the team did not prioritise outright performance throughout testing despite both he and his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen regularly featuring near the top of the timesheets. He believes that Red Bull and McLaren will set the pace and is eager to see where Lotus figures in the tight competitive order.”We didn’t try every time to get the best performance that we could, but it went well,” said Grosjean

Lotus said it had to send the chassis back to Enstone to carry out checks
Raikkonen: Times not important yet
February 7th, 2012
Kimi Raikkonen says that topping the first day of pre-season testing means less to him than the ‘positive’ first sensations he received from the new Lotus E20 and Pirelli’s soft and medium tyre compounds that he tried for the first time at Jerez. The 2007 world champion played down his headline-grabbing fastest time at the Spanish circuit after ending up 0.1s faster than Paul di Resta’s Force India, having completed 73 laps on a relatively trouble-free day. “It makes no difference,” he said when asked how it felt to be quickest on his return to contemporary F1 action
