Bryant-Meisner joins British F3 field

German Formula 3 Cup contender John Bryant-Meisner is to contest the opening round of the British Formula 3 International Series at Silverstone next weekend. The 18-year-old Swede will join the grid for the May 25/26 event in his Performance Racing Dallara powered by the German F3 spec Volkswagen engine, and hopes to complete the rest of the British F3 rounds too. Bryant-Meisner lies third in the German F3 points after winning the reversed-grid races at each of the opening two rounds.
Jordan to test rallycross Fiesta

British Touring Car frontrunner Andrew Jordan will test a Ford Fiesta rallycross machine next week. Jordan, who currently lies second in the BTCC standings, competed in rallycross early in his career and took the 2007 British title.
WRC poised for crunch FIA meeting

The FIA is presenting its plans for the immediate future of the World Rally Championship in Paris this week. Led by its rally director Jarmo Mahonen, the FIA has joined forces with WRC promoters Red Bull Media House and Sportsman Media and British sports consultancy firm Portas to produce a document outlining the way forward for the series. Guimaraes joins British F3 grid

Felipe Guimaraes has joined Fortec Motorsport to contest the British Formula 3 International Series. The 22-year-old Brazilian, a race winner in South American F3 this season and a podium finisher in A1GP, will drive the Dallara-Mercedes campaigned so far this year in European F3 by Dmitry Suranovich and Ed Jones. Guimaraes, who has also raced in GP3, Formula 3000 and Indy Lights, is currently in the middle of a two-day test at Pembrey alongside Fortec’s European F3 regulars Felix Serralles, Josh Hill and Pipo Derani.
F3 qualifying to be split at Brands

Qualifying for next weekend’s Formula 3 European Championship round at Brands Hatch will be split into two groups in a bid to ease traffic problems around the British circuit. At just 1.2 miles in length, the Brands Hatch Indy circuit is the shortest venue on the F3 calendar.
SEAT unveils new Leon Cup car

SEAT has unveiled a concept ‘Leon Cup racer’ which could form the basis of its new World Touring Car challenger. AUTOSPORT understands the 330bhp model, set to be displayed in a GTI meeting in Austria next weekend, will also be showcased at the WTCC’s next round at the Salzburgring. Andrew Jordan topped British Touring Car practice at Thruxton, leading a Eurotech Honda one-two. Sam Tordoff’s MG set the pace before a red flag, caused when Matt Neal’s works Honda Civic stopped with an apparent electrical issue, but Jordan moved to the top shortly after the restart. Jordan was the only man to lap in under 1m18s and set several times good enough to go fastest.

But they admitted on Thursday that it may take more success from Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button to secure a race-day sellout again. Ed Jones fills vacant Fortec F3 seat

Anglo-Emirati racer Ed Jones will fill Fortec Motorsport’s vacant FIA Formula 3 European Championship seat for this weekend’s round at Hockenheim. The 18-year-old, who was born and raised in Dubai, will join Felix Serralles, Josh Hill and Pipo Derani in Fortec’s quartet of Dallara-Mercedes racers. He replaces Belarussian Dmitry Suranovich (pictured below), who stood down from his Fortec drive on the eve of the second round at Silverstone

Rallycross Mini for X Games debut

Prodrive has confirmed Liam Doran will drive its Mini John Cooper Works RX for the first time at next month’s X Games in Barcelona. The Mini RX was driven non-competitively at the British Rallycross Championship meeting in Lydden Hill last month with a World Rally Car engine fitted. The second X Games event of the year will mark its first race with full rallycross power.
West-Tec to run seven British F3 cars

European Formula 3 Open squad Team West-Tec is to run a seven-car team in the National Class of the British Formula 3 International Series. West-Tec is taking advantage of the opening-up of the National Class to allow in cars running spec engines from other F3 championships, as well as the downscaling of the series to four rounds. The team will run four Toyota/Piedrafita-engined Dallara F312s for UAE-based Briton Ed Jones, Venezuelan Roberto La Rocca, New Zealander Chris Vlok and China’s Hu An Zhu.
