A Hardcore Fan’s View

On Sunday 24th June 2012 I joined an exclusive at Brands Hatch. I call these club members The Hardcore Racing Fans. Why did I join this club? Well because with the deluge of changeable weather mixing from atrocious down poor of rain to sweltering heat and as a certain Ayrton Senna once said ‘It was pure driving, it was real racing’ that I witnessed. Surely there is nothing else quite like hearing the roaring sound of an engine on a grid whether it is a Formula One car or a Formula Ford. Reigning British Formula Ford champion James Cole will graduate to the British F3 championship this season. Buller wins Brazilian Open F3 event

Will Buller kicked off his Formula 3 career by winning his debut event in the category, the Brazil F3 Open at Interlagos. The Hitech Racing driver, who will compete for the same squad in British F3 this season, made a terrific debut by taking pole position for the first of two heats and then winning it in wet conditions after passing Andre Negrao’s Cesario Formula car late on. A third place in the dry second heat, followed by second in the wet semi-final, gave 17-year-old Buller a front-row spot for the final alongside polesitter Negrao

Carlin: Junior racing in good health

Team boss Trevor Carlin believes junior-level single-seater racing is in good health, in spite of the affects of the global economic downturn. Another championship will be added to the catalogue of sub Formula 1 series next year with the introduction of GP3, but Carlin denies that so many categories are diluting the talent pool.

Arden signs duo for Asia Series

Arden has signed Venezuelan driver Rodolfo Gonzalez and Frenchman Charles Pic for its GP2 Asia Series campaign. Gonzalez, 23, made eight GP2 Asia starts for FMS last season, and was a race-winner with the same team in Euroseries 3000 this year
