Ward, Broekman Lead The Way
by Kenneth O'Keefe on February 14th, 2013
Week Two brought the GRAND-AM Online Sports Car Series to Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, where the famous 4.048 mile (6.515 km) circuit hosted 50 minute online races every other hour for sim-racers to enjoy. The Riley Mk XX Daytona Prototype saw fewer entries this week, 572 entering a race, 265 placing a qualifying lap, and 58 completing time trials. The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 was slightly more popular with 661 drivers entering a race, 311 placing a qualifying lap, and 77 completing a time trial. Riley Mk XX Daytona Prototype Topping the standings for the faster of the two classes this week was David Ward (England), scoring 193 points. Ward started from the second position in Saturday’s 3288 SoF race and took the lead on Lap Three when erstwhile [...]
iRacer Profile: Justin Hamilton
by David Phillips on August 18th, 2012
Justin Hamilton’s learning curve on iRacing has been a steep one. Since joining iRacing in January, he’s made steady – and rapid – progress up the charts, particularly with his Mazda MX-5 in Nvidia Cup competition. A credible but “distant” 66th place finisher in S2, he moved up to P17 in Season 2B on the strength of 22 wins in 31 starts, then took sixth place in Season 2C with a nearly perfect 13 wins and 14 top fives out of 15 races. Although the Brisbane resident is an F1 aficionado – Ferrari in particular – he has his sights set on iRacing’s upcoming foray into the British Touring Car Championship and the Honda HSV-010 GT for the future. Small wonder, given the fact that he used to race a [...]

June 20th, 2012
Eight British Tracks, Honda Civic 2KC to Feature in Virtual BTCC iRacing.com has reached agreements that will see four of England’s leading race tracks — Thruxton, Croft, Mallory Park and Snetterton — added to the world’s foremost online motorsports service. Additionally, iRacing announced plans to build a digital version of the Honda Civic 2KC as raced in the British Touring Car Championship. “This is great news for iRacers in England and around the world,” says Divina Galica, iRacing.com Director of Partner Relations. “Thanks to our new partnership with the British Auto Racing Club, we’re pleased to bring Thruxton, Croft and Mallory Park into the fold. At the same time, we’ve expanded our existing relationship with Motorsport Vision to add Snetterton to our catalogue of great race tracks.” The additional venues [...]
Warwick joins stewards for Germany
July 28th, 2010
Derek Warwick will join the stewards’ panel for this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Warwick is the third British ex-grand prix driver to advise race officials this year, after former world champions Damon Hill and Nigel Mansell advised in Monaco and at Silverstone respectively. Warwick competed in Formula 1 from 1981 to 1993, during which time he drove for Toleman, Brabham, Lotus, Arrows and Renault, with whom he nearly won the 1984 British Grand Prix
Nash to retain Triple 8 drive
July 27th, 2010
James Nash will remain with the Triple 8 Vauxhall squad for the rest of the British Touring Car Championship season. Nash, 24, replaced Fabrizio Giovanardi at the team in time for the second round of the Championship at Rockingham and took a podium finish at Oulton Park.
Plato hails breakthrough test
July 23rd, 2010
Jason Plato said that Chevrolet’s performance in British Touring Car Championship testing at Snetterton this week marked a breakthrough for the manufacturer and its Cruze model.
Chilton sets Snetterton test pace
July 22nd, 2010
Tom Chilton set the pace at the British Touring Car Championship’s mid-season test at Snetterton on Thursday. The Arena Ford driver left it until the dying minutes of the afternoon session to do it though, ducking under the lap record by 0.3 seconds to stop the clocks in 1m11.408s. Chilton’s pace-setting lap looked unlikely just an hour earlier.
Shedden takes first 2010 win at Croft
June 20th, 2010
Gordon Shedden broke his season duck in a thriller of a British Touring Car Championship opener at Croft today. From the outside of the front row, the Scot surged his Dynamics-run Honda Civic into the lead at the first corner
Chilton crashes then takes pole
June 19th, 2010
Pole position for Tom Chilton in an unballasted Ford Focus was no surprise, but the spectacularly-coiffured British Touring Car Championship’s ace method of achieving that at Croft was unconventional.
Neal leads Croft practice sessions
June 19th, 2010
British Touring Car Championship leader Matt Neal took the fastest time in 80 minutes of free practice this morning at Croft.
Hamilton forced to miss next race
June 10th, 2010
Matt Hamilton will miss the next round of the British Touring Car Championship at Croft due to budgetary issues. Hamilton, 20, who has driven a TH Motorsport-run Honda Civic-R this season, said he was “absolutely devastated” to see his BTCC programme stopping for the time being.
Neal wins lively third BTCC race at Oulton Park
June 6th, 2010
Matt Neal moved back to the top of the British Touring Car Championship by winning the final race of the day at Oulton Park. The Honda driver started eighth on the grid, but a combination of some well-judged passing moves and the misfortune of some of his rivals paved his way to the front
Onslow-Cole wins first Oulton race
June 6th, 2010
Tom Onslow-Cole took his second British Touring Car Championship victory of the year in the opening race of the day at Oulton Park. The Arena Ford driver started from pole position and led the whole race, despite incessant pressure from Honda’s Gordon Shedden. Rob Collard moved his WSR BMW ahead of Jason Plato’s Chevrolet into Old Hall on the second lap and latched onto Shedden’s tail as the front three opened up a lead of a second on the rest
Onslow-Cole: Fords will get faster
June 5th, 2010
Tom Onslow-Cole believes there is even more pace to come from his Arena Ford Focus in the Oulton Park British Touring Car Championship races after securing pole in qualifying. Onslow-Cole’s first pole since his days as a Vauxhall driver in 2008 was achieved by a margin of 0.020 seconds from Honda’s Gordon Shedden, and the polesitter thinks that a few set-up adjustments will make the LPG-powered machine quicker still. “The car is good and I’ve finally had enough laps in it that I think I can extract a lot of speed,” Onslow-Cole said.
Onslow-Cole ends pole draught
June 5th, 2010
Tom Onslow-Cole claimed his first British Touring Car Championship pole position for two years as he qualified quickest at Oulton Park.
Chilton fastest in Oulton practice
June 5th, 2010

Donington secures new leaseholder
May 26th, 2010
Donington Park’s future has been secured after the Adroit Group was appointed as the new leaseholder at the Leicestershire track. The failure of previous leaseholder Donington Ventures Limited’s bid to bring the Britiah Grand Prix to the venue left it facing uncertain times, with the track requiring significant expenditure to bring it back into use as its conversation to a Formula 1-standard venue had been part-completed before the project collapsed.

Giovanardi wins on BTCC return
April 4th, 2010
Fabrizio Giovanardi made a perfect return to the British Touring Car Championship by winning the opening race of the season at Thruxton. The double champion, who only signed his one-off deal with the Triple 8 Vauxhall team two days ago, started on the front row of the grid and ran second for the opening six laps while polesitter Gordon Shedden led the way in his Honda. The Honda challenge soon fell away though as Shedden crashed heavily at the high-speed Church corner following a left front puncture and Matt Neal, who had been on Giovanardi’s tail, slowed with the same problem
Giovanardi seals late Triple 8 deal for BTTC
April 2nd, 2010
Fabrizio Giovanardi will race in the opening round of the British Touring Car Championship at Thruxton this weekend after signing a last-minute deal with Triple 8 Engineering. The 2007 and ’08 champion had been left driveless after Vauxhall withdrew from the BTCC at the end of last year, but will now race a Vectra for Triple 8 alongside Phil Glew.
