Piquet Jr to make Daytona debut

Nelson Piquet Jr will make his Daytona 24 Hours next year after signing with Action Express Racing. The 27-year-old Brazilian has spent the season competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series, where he finished seventh in the championship with two victories to his credit. In March he claimed his first NASCAR win in the K&N East Series , while in June he also made his Grand-Am debut at Road America at the wheel of a Mazda MX-5.

Team owner Richard Childress is facing punishment by NASCAR for a physical altercation with Kyle Busch on Saturday afternoon at Kansas Speedway. The sanctioning body summoned both Childress and Busch on Sunday morning – with Busch’s team boss Joe Gibbs also attending – following reports that stated that the 65-year-old team owner had attacked Busch physically in the garage area

Raikkonen enjoys first NASCAR test

Kimi Raikkonen says he enjoyed his first NASCAR experience after testing this week for Kyle Busch Motorsports for the first time. According to a release from Raikkonen’s ICE1 Racing, the Finn completed over 400 laps at the half-mile Gresham Motorsports Park oval, working with KBM’s engineers on various set up adjustments to familiarize himself with his new technical environment. “It was a lot of fun, I really had no expectations or anything to compare it to beforehand but at the end of the day, I am really looking forward to the first race,” said Raikkonen

Nelson Piquet believes Robert Kubica’s rally accident will make Formula 1 teams become more strict with their drivers’ off-track activities.
