Mikkelsen claims breakthrough win
October 9th, 2011
Andreas Mikkelsen finally clinched his first Intercontinental Rally Challenge win in Scotland, having protected his lead through the final stages at Scone Palace. The Norwegian had narrowly missed out on wins in the prevous two IRC rounds – crashing with victory in sight in Hungary, then being pipped by Thierry Neuville in a final stage showdown in Sanremo. But in Scotland he drove flawlessly, battling with Guy Wilks early on, before emerging with a commanding lead when the Peugeot driver went off on Saturday morning
Hanninen to miss Sanremo
September 19th, 2011
Juho Hanninen’s chances of retaining his Intercontinental Rally Challenge title now look remote after Skoda opted not to enter him for this weekend’s Sanremo Rally. Although Skoda announced at the start of the year that Hanninen would not defend his IRC title and would instead focus on the World Rally Championship’s S2000 class, he has still been entered for five IRC events so far and won the Canarias, Yalta and Azores rallies

March 24th, 2011
Prodrive has return to the World Rally Championship with a new car for the first time since 2008, with the Mini John Cooper Works S2000 making its debut on this week’s Rally of Portugal.
Gardemeister picks Skoda, Hankook
March 9th, 2011
Toni Gardemeister will use a Hankook-shod Skoda for his return to full-time international rallying in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this season. The long-time factory World Rally Championship driver announced last month that he had formed his own team under the TGS Worldwide banner and had secured the funding for a full IRC programme. He has now confirmed his technical package for the season, and that he will contest a further eight rounds of the series – in which only drivers’ best seven scores count
Hanninen may yet defend IRC title
February 3rd, 2011
Re igning Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion Juho Hanninen may yet defend his title alongside his new S2000 World Rally Championship campaign. Skoda had previously announced that the only IRC rounds it would enter Hanninen on this year would be the Monte Carlo season-opener and the team’s home event – Rally Zlin – in August.
Skoda signs Mikkelsen for 2011
November 9th, 2010
Skoda UK Motorsport has signed Andreas Mikkelsen to drive its Fabia S2000 in next year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge. The team is aiming to offer the 22-year-old Norwegian what it feels is the best chance possible of winning the IRC title next season
Rankings: Vettel increases advantage
November 8th, 2010
Sebastian Vettel increased his hopes of ending the year on top of the Castrol Rankings with a dominant victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver stormed into the lead at the first corner and led virtually the whole way to take his fourth grand prix win of the season
Mikkelsen wins Golden Stage
November 7th, 2010
Andreas Mikkelsen brought a frustrating season to a happy end by taking a comfortable victory in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge’s non-championship Golden Stage event in Cyprus. The shoot-out over two runs of a 25-kilometre mixed-surface stage carried a total prize fund of 150,000 euros and was televised live
Al-Attiyah clinches Cyprus Rally win
November 6th, 2010
Nasser Al-Attiyah clinched an ultimately-comfortable victory in the Cyprus Rally by pulling away from Roger Feghali over the deciding loop. With little left to fight for in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge standings, most of the top teams chose to skip the Cyprus finale, leaving guest drivers like World Rally Championship and Dakar regular Al-Attiyah to take centre stage. Two of his main rivals were out before the rally had barely begun, as pre-event favourite Andreas Mikkelsen’s Hankook Ford suffered engine problems before the first full-length stage, and Peugeot’s top driver Bryan Bouffier lost 25 minutes when he damaged his suspension on SS2
Al-Attiyah reclaims Cyprus lead
November 6th, 2010
Nasser Al-Attiyah is back in the lead of the Cyprus Rally after further problems for Martin Prokop, but Al-Attiyah only has a 7.9-second cushion over Roger Feghali with three stages to go. Prokop had got his advantage over fellow Ford driver Al-Attiyah up to 23.2s going into Foini, today’s second stage, only to then suffer his second driveshaft breakage of the weekend, leaving him limping through the rest of the loop. Al-Attiyah also lost some time on the stage, reportedly in Prokop’s dust, and then had a spin as he struggled with worn tyres on the following Galataria stage
Al-Attiyah holds off Prokop in Cyprus
November 5th, 2010
Nasser Al-Attiyah continues to lead the Cyprus Rally, and is fending off a strong challenge from the recovering Martin Prokop. Czech Ford driver Prokop suffered a broken driveshaft last night which both cost him time on yesterday’s superspecial and led to a 20-second penalty for being late out of service this morning. He then mounted a charge, winning SS2 and SS3 to get within 11s of Al-Attiyah (Barwa Ford), but Prokop’s soft tyres faded on the 17 kilometres of Agioi Vavatsinias, leaving him 19.2s behind Al-Attiyah as they head for service

Hanninen certain to clinch IRC title
September 30th, 2010
Juho Hanninen has effectively clinched the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge title after Skoda decided not to enter his team-mate and last remaining championship rival Jan Kopecky for the next round in Scotland. Under the IRC scoring system, drivers only count their best seven results from the 12-round season, and Kopecky had to win both Scotland and Cyprus to have any hope of beating Hanninen. With this considered unlikely given form so far this year, Skoda has opted to guarantee Hanninen the crown by only entering the Finn for the Scottish event on 15-17 October
Corsica, Hungary join IRC for 2011
September 29th, 2010
The Intercontinental Rally Challenge has announced a 12-round calendar for 2011, with classic former World Rally Championship event the Tour de Corse and Hungary’s Mecsek Rallye joining the schedule. With the WRC’s French round moving to a new location in Alsace instead, the popular Corsican rally will become part of the IRC, running from 6-8 May next year
Solberg thrilled to win Panzerplatte
August 21st, 2010
Petter Solberg declared himself delighted to have won the Panzerplatte stage today and laid to rest the memory of his 2004 crash on Rally Germany. Solberg was fastest through the second run of the 29-mile test this afternoon, beating rally leader Sebastien Loeb by 8.4 seconds. The Norwegian suffered one of the biggest accidents of his career on the Baumholder stage, but this afternoon he was happy to have won the test.

October 16th, 2009
Next year’s IRC calendar has been revealed and includes three new rallies in the 12-rally schedule.
