An Open Letter from Target/Ganassi to Toyota GP of Long Beach GP Pro/Celebrity Drivers
by Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon on April 17th, 2013
April 17, 2013 Dear Drivers, It’s the Target Racing Indy car drivers here, with some (unsolicited) advice as you prepare to hit the track this weekend at The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race. Think you can just put on a fire suit and slide into a race car for 10 adrenaline-pumping laps just like that? Not so fast. We’re talking to each and every one of you: Jackson Rathbone, Wanda Sykes, Michelle Rodriguez, Kate del Castillo, Cristian Castro, Jesse Metcalfe, Adam Carolla, Mark Steines, Jenna Elfman and Rutledge Wood. Most of you haven’t logged time in the seat of an Indy car going 230 mph, so we’ve come up with a few pointers to get you race-ready. Except you, Rodriguez—we were pretty impressed by your skills in [...]
World Tour of iRacing Memorial Day Winners
by David Phillips on May 30th, 2012
Dario Franchitti and Kasey Kahne (and Mark Webber) weren’t the only race winners on Memorial Day. Thanks to the World Tour of iRacing’s first doubleheader, more than 40 sim-racers added their names to the ranks of winners in the Third Annual iRacing.com Indianapolis 500 and the inaugural iRacing.com World 600 last weekend. Actually, it was more like a World Tour triple-header as the virtual Indy 500 ran in two distinct segments, one for Rookie-D Licenced iRacers taking the green flag at 10 am EST and a second for C- Pro Licensed drivers starting an hour later, with the top split in the latter broadcast on iRacing Live. James Swinbanks got the proceedings off to a great start with a narrow (.124s) win over Wade Hayward in the top split of [...]
Franchitti wins third Indy 500
May 27th, 2012
Dario Franchitti came from the rear of the field to take the win in a dramatic Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Scot spent the late laps trading the lead with Ganassi team-mate Scott Dixon, but Takuma Sato (Rahal Letterman Lanigan) managed to get between the pair with two laps to go and lined Franchitti up for a passing attempt. Sato managed to get alongside Franchitti in the first corner of the final lap, but did not allow himself enough space and bounced off the Ganassi car and into the wall, bringing out the yellows and allowing Franchitti an unchallenged run to the finish

The Certain Champion
by David Phillips on October 14th, 2011
Dario Franchitti or Will Power? Who will wear the mantle of 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series champion? We won’t know for sure until the conclusion of Sunday’s IZOD IndyCar World Championship at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but the identity of one 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series champion is already certain. That would be 22 year old Yang Ou, winner of both the iRacing.com IZOD IndyCar Premier Series Oval and Road Racing competition and, as such, iRacing’s overall IndyCar champion. And the spoils of his many online racing victories include a cash prize and a trip to Las Vegas for the 2011 IZOD Indy Car Series finale. And what a long, strange trip it’s been. A native of Wu Han, China, Ou currently resides in Copenhagen, Denmark where he is studying media technology. [...]

A Brand New Name in IndyCars
by David Phillips on August 30th, 2011
Monica Clara Brand’s name may not be quite as familiar to IndyCar fans as those of Sarah Fisher and Danica Patrick, but she has much in common with them. Like Fisher she has qualified on the pole for an IndyCar race . . . 30 by actual count. And, like Patrick, she has finished an IndyCar race in Victory Lane. In fact, Brand has more than 25 wins to her credit from MIS to Iowa to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. What distinguishes Brand’s racing career from those of Fisher and Patrick is that all of her IndyCar success has come in a digitized Dallara on the virtual race tracks of iRacing.com. In fact, the 34 year old resident of Bucharest, Romania has never even attended a “real world” IZOD IndyCar [...]

June 18th, 2011
Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon put Ganassi first and second in IndyCar morning practice at the Milwaukee Mile. The duo set their best times early on their opening runs of the day, and remained out of the competition’s reach for the rest of the hour. Tony Kanaan had a strong run for KV Racing in third place, with Helio Castroneves the top Penske driver in fourth and Ryan Hunter-Reay Andretti Autosport’s lead runner in fifth.

IndyCar Reacts To Ganassi’s Achivement
July 27th, 2010
EDMONTON, Alberta — It was a few hours before the start of the IZOD IndyCar Series race at Edmonton’s City Centre Airport and a large crowd was arriving to pack the grandstands for Sunday’s Honda Indy Edmonton. But huddled away in the back of the Target Chip Ganassi team transporter was two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti, 2008 Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon and team managing director Mike Hull
Dixon awarded controversial win
July 26th, 2010
Scott Dixon was awarded victory at Edmonton after Helio Castroneves had the win taken away, having been adjudged to have blocked his team-mate Will Power. Castroneves crossed the line first, having snatched the lead from Power late on. But the chequered flag was held back for Dixon, who had also slipped past Power, as the officials stopped scoring Castroneves on the final lap as a punishment for an allegedly illegal defensive move, dropping him to 10th
McMurray Gets Ganassi Historic Indy Win
July 25th, 2010
INDIANAPOLIS – Jamie McMurray won the Brickyard 400 with a late-race pass of Kevin Harvick, and in the process gave team owner Chip Ganassi an historic triple. McMurray won the Daytona 500 to open the season and claimed both of the sport’s biggest races with his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ganassi driver Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 in May.
