Vettel impressed by Russian circuit

Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel said he was impressed with what he saw after visiting the venue of the future Russian Grand Prix on Monday. The Red Bull driver, together with former racer David Coulthard, visited the pit building and drove an Infiniti road car through some of the existing corners of the 5.8km track despite heavy rain hitting the circuit
Boullier: too early for team orders

No DTM drive for Kubica in 2013

Robert Kubica will not join the DTM this season after Mercedes announced a six-car 2013 line-up with European Formula 3 champion Daniel Juncadella in the vacant slot that could have gone to the Pole. Kubica had tested for Mercedes earlier this month and had been linked to a DTM race seat, although a date clash with Rally Poland – a key event in his mooted European Rally Championship programme – had been an issue. Mercedes has slimmed down its DTM programme to six cars for 2013.
Coulthard: Melbourne critics selfish

David Coulthard has hit out at long-standing criticisms of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, suggesting protests against it are ‘selfish’ and ‘small-minded’. The Briton, who won the Albert Park event twice in his career, thinks that a recent growing wave of complaints about the high cost of the event should be stopped.

Romain Grosjean won the 2012 Race of Champions with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Tom Kristensen in the final in Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium. The 26-year-old Frenchman, whose Formula 1 future is yet to be confirmed , was in imperious form and lost only one of his seven head-to-head encounters all afternoon.
Vettel to take on Lorenzo in RoC

Formula Renault NEC champion Jake Dennis has won a Formula 1 test with McLaren after being named the 24th winner of the McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award. Dennis, who also gets £100,000, full membership of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, a TW Steel watch, and Puma racewear for a year, was revealed as the winner at the AUTOSPORT Awards in London on Sunday night.

Both third-place finisher Vettel and winner Raikkonen used profanities when being quizzed by Formula 1 racer turned commentator David Coulthard during the new-style live interview procedure at Yas Marina.

Scheider put to back of grid

Timo Scheider has been stripped of his qualifying times for Sunday’s DTM finale at Hockenheim after failing a post-session weight test. The two-time series champion had qualified his Audi eighth on the grid, but will now have to start 22nd and last as a result of his penalty. Scheider’s demotion means that Edoardo Mortara, title contender Jamie Green and Filipe Albuquerque move up to eighth, ninth and 10th spots respectively

Edoardo Mortara kept Audi on top at Valencia as he went fastest in the second DTM practice session at the Spanish circuit on Saturday. The Rosberg Audi driver recovered from a trip through the Turn 1 gravel during the first half of the drying session and produced the best time of the morning in the final minute, a 1m26.876s.
