I was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1988 and moved to Midland, Michigan when I was two years old. I stayed there until third grade when I moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan and now I currently live in Naperville, IL where I'm attending Metea Valley High School as a 9th grader. In the past, I have participated in soccer and this year I plan on joining swimming or water polo. My family includes my 15 year old sister, a 7 year old sister and my mom and dad. I have been writing since 6th grade and have participated in many writing contests in my school and have received several awards for writing.
My fascination for motorsports began when I was nine. The first NASCAR race I watched on TV was the 2009 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, won by Kasey Kahne. My favorite NASCAR drivers are Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Jimmie Johnson. I have watched all the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series since 2010. I currently have three wins on iRacing, two of them in the Nationwide car at Daytona and one in the Street stocks at Charlotte. My favorite car and type of track on iRacing is the Nationwide Series (B Class) car and superspeedways.

I was born in Adelaide and we moved-out for Angle Vale for a few years until I was about 7 years old, when we moved to the Barossa Valley where I live now. I'm 19 years old and currently traveling back and forth weekly as I'm studying for a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology.

I've always had a love for racing as my close family did some racing and we were always out at the local dirt track. I joined iRacing back in 2010 and slowly but surely got the hang of it as this is my first experience with sim racing and am loving it each time I race. I've won two SK Modified titles (almost had three in a row but finished P2 in 2011 S4), an inRacingNews Challenge championship (2012 S1 Mazda) and was also an AustralAsian Intel GT Series Finalist.

Over the years his interest widened to include the British Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, NASCAR and various other forms of motorsport. Nathan began sim-racing in the mid 1990s using games developed by Papyrus. He later moved onto SimBim simulations such as GTR, GTR2 and GTR Evolution and has most recently joined the iRacing community.

When he's not working or sim racing, Nathan enjoys spending time and relaxing with his family. Other hobbies include going to festivals, tinkering with his car and doing up his house.

Born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia, I have always had a serious passion for cars and motorsports. Hoping one day to become an automotive journalist for a magazine, I constantly crave the exciting competition that comes along with racing and sim-racing. Having participated in a mere test session in a Legends car at Old Dominion Speedway, I have not been able to get into any real-life competition . . . yet.

As a sim racer, my interests date back to "GTR Evolution." My goal is to have fun and win some races. I made it to Oval Pro in 2010, but did not become very successful. I enjoy any mixed road racing competition and love racing the Silverados around almost any track.

Born and raised in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area, Scott Kelly has had a love for motorsports ever since his father did the right thing by introducing auto racing into his life. No longer able to quench his need for speed by spectating NASCAR races on TV and watching dirt track stars slide around local tracks, Kelly eventually picked-up sim racing in his teens, wheeling cars found in Ratbag Games' "Dirt Track Racing" and "World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars" while also becoming introduced into multiple Papyrus sim-racing series. Joining the iRacing ranks in late 2011, Kelly set his sights on the short track racing he was familiar with, focusing on the sprint car, while also driving the Legends and street stock in multiple iRacing.com leagues.

Kelly brings not just his enthusiasm for racing to the highest-rated motorsports simulation, but also his B.A. degree in English; he covers the action seen in the iRacing.com Sprint Car Series, while also placing the spotlight on various leagues within the service. Enjoying his start to a career in motorsports journalism, Kelly also doesn't mind visiting victory lane from time-to-time.

I was born in Florence, South Carolina in 1989 and have lived here my entire life. I've been around racing since I was a young kid watching with my dad on Sundays. In 2009 and found my local track, Florence Motor Speedway and started working for them as a PR guy the same year. At the end of that season, I started writing for RACE22.com, a Late Model Stock Car news site. In 2010, I picked up my first DSLR camera and started shooting races. To this day, I've experienced some of the best races from behind the camera.

I've been with the iRacing service since its public beta in 2008, back when the top oval car was the Late Model. I've been in over 500 races on the service with 70+ wins on both oval and road. My favorite car on the service is the Chevrolet Silverado. Darlington Raceway and Concord Speedway are my favorite tracks simply because everybody hates them.

Mustang Points Race Tightens at Summit Point

by Jeff Jacobs on June 12th, 2013

117
Points leader Vedran Broz won his only race in Week 6 but a low points value allowed other drivers to close the gap.

The season overall points standing grew even closer in Week 6 of the iRacing.com Mustang Cup, with several sim-racers taking advantage of crucial mid-season wins to reel-in leader Vedran Broz.  This week featured 16 official racesat Summit Point’s short course – a first run on that configuration for the Mustangs.  While the number of online races were far fewer than at Daytona the week before, 14 different winners took home top honors and points in their effort to climb the points standings. Out of the 144 sim-racers who tried the Mustang FR500S around the West Virginia track, Todd Honczarenko had the best results with two wins in two starts and the top points (120) earned for the week.  Olivier Sackhouse was also perfect in two starts, claiming 115 points.  Points [...]

Mustang Battle Heats-Up at Daytona

by Jeff Jacobs on June 4th, 2013

107
Owain Glyndwr (#9) and Brady Nerbas (#10) battle door-to-door for 11th place.

The club course at Sebring in Week 4 was just the appetizer for the main course – Daytona – in Week 5 of the iRacing.com Mustang Cup’s swing through Florida.  Indeed Mustang sim-racers feasted on the fast road course at Daytona with 224 drivers taking the grid in at least one of the 31 official races this week.  The door-to-door, bumper-to-bumper racing produced 19 different winners, giving several drivers an opportunity to close the gap on series point-leader Vedran Broz. Every race featured agonizingly close finishes throughout the field – nail the Bus Stop to get on the bumper of the car ahead of you and you’d have the other guy crying as you slipped by at the line.  A late race on May 31st featured six cars running nose-to-bumper [...]

Historic Sebring Hosts Mustangs

by Jeff Jacobs on May 29th, 2013

100
Overall points leader Vedran Broz (#1) leads a pack into T1 on the way to one of his four wins at Sebring.

Historic Sebring International Raceway was a World War II army airfield, but it was the sim-racers in the iRacing.com Mustang Cup who were flying around the track in Week 4 of Season 2.  The shorter Club layout provided great bumper-to-bumper action in 14 official races producing nine different winners.  Top performer again this week was Vedran Broz, who took home a perfect four wins in four starts.  However, Broz did not post the top qualifying time of the week, with that honor going to Roope Turkkila. Among the most exciting racing of the week was the May 27th 18-car battle at 18:15pm GMT, won by Teemu Lappalainen.  Although the winner led every lap, the fight for the remaining two podium stops was a game of inches between Tiago Carvalho2, Michael [...]

Get to Know . . . Derek Crone

This week, I interviewed one of the lead drivers in the youth movement on iRacing.com. Born on March 19, 1996, this iRacer has worked his way from the very bottom to the very top, from hitting the curbs at Oxford Plains Speedway in the Legends car, to racing in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship in his Gen6 Chevrolet SS: West Virginia’s Derek Crone. Derek has been racing on iRacing.com since December of 2010, and he has made a lot of noise in the 2 and a half years on the service. He has started 313 races on the oval side of iRacing, and has visited victory lane 40 times, with the majority of those wins coming in 2012. He has also scored 145 top fives and 65 poles in [...]

Mustang Intensity at Daytona

by Jeff Jacobs on April 16th, 2013

115
This last-lap battle for second to fifth place was decided by one second among Gennadiy Titov (2), Adam Massey (1), Jack Hinchman (4), and Panji Brotoisworo (3).

Eleven weeks of close racing reached a new high point at Daytona as the iRacing.com Mustang Cup drivers battled for every possible point.  Something about racing at Daytona – the history, the high banking, the challenge of never quite mastering it – brings out the intensity in every sim-racer on the grid.  Combine that intensity with a dozen or more pony cars in formation and there will be fireworks! Week 11 featured some incredible finishes demonstrating the competitiveness of this series.  With 36 official races on the week, twelve of the races…that’s 33%…were decided by less than a half-second.  Not impressed? How about seven races won by less than a tenth, six of those less than half-a-tenth!  And for two of those races, the third place car was just thousands [...]

Oulton Park Thriller

by Jeff Jacobs on April 9th, 2013

107
Oulton Park provided a majestic setting for the iRacing Pony Cars.

In Week 10 at Oulton Park, the top sim-racers in this season’s iRacing.com Mustang Cup turned-up the heat on current points leader and last season’s champion, Dariusz Bielawski, who responded with a thrilling .263s margin of victory over Todd Honczarenko.  Sunday’s race at 22:15 GMT opened with 18 Mustangs on the grid, with Bielawski out qualifying Honczarenko by just .003s.  While Bielawski got the better start and opened with a sizable lead, Honczarenko worked back to the leader’s bumper by Lap Nine, got up on his side at times, and stayed within inches for the remaining four laps. A small slide in the final turn for Bielawski was not enough to open a door for Honczarenko, who finished on the leader’s tail behind after 25 minutes of racing. Repeating his [...]

Heated Points Battle Atop Mustang Cup

by Jeff Jacobs on March 26th, 2013

120
Bielawski is looking to repeat as Mustang Cup champion.

With the Mustangs running at a series-favorite Mid-Ohio in Week 8, the points battle heated-up at the top of the standings.  Last season’s iRacing.com Mustang Cup champion, Dariusz Bielawski, has maintained the points the lead every week – with the exception of Week 3 when he temporarily surrendered the top spot to David L Brown.  However, Brown disappeared from the standings as the season continued, leaving a question as to whether anyone had a shot at preventing the Champ from repeating.  Week 8 answered that question, as it now appears a few other sim-racers are turning-in strong mid-season performances to challenge Bielawski for the lead. Cutting Bielawski’s advantage to just 12 points, Todd Honczarenko has charged from eighth after Week 1 to second place after Week 8.  Jaroslaw Grochowski is [...]

Late Models Romp on the Beach

by Ray Kingsbury on March 22nd, 2013

The Late Model drivers were itchin' to come to grips with New Smyrna Speedway.

Just miles away from the hallowed grounds of Daytona International Speedway lies an 0.48 mile (0.77 km) short track with four turns of 23 degrees of banking. This of course can be none other than New Smyrna Speedway located on New Smyrna Beach.  Founded in 1964, New Smyrna was originally a clay-based short track, but just a few years later it was paved over. More recently the track has been repaved and now many top tier NASCAR teams use it for testing.  With various series held here weekly, it would only be natural that iRacing.com’s Chevy Late Model could take it on too. So, this was the stomping ground for the NASCAR iRacing.com Late Model Series for Week Seven of the 12 week tour. In this week’s 3470 Strength of [...]

Get to Know: Adam Gilliland

Gilliland celebrates his NiSWC win with a post-checkered flag burn-out.

If you didn’t recognize the name Adam Gilliland, you probably do now after watching the season opener of the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship last Tuesday. In his first race of the season, he scored the biggest win in his sim-racing career in a close finish against NiPS runner-up Jared Crawford at Daytona International Speedway. Looking back, in the first season of 2012 NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series, Adam finished fourth in the overall points standings to secure his spot in the NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series, where he finished sixth in the points standings. He scored one top five all season and that was a victory at Richmond, which propelled him to a sixth place finish in the points and a ticket to the NiSWC. Since joining the service [...]

NASCAR iRacing National Series Tackles Charlotte

NASCAR iRacing National Series Tackles Charlotte

The NASCAR iRacing.com National Series regulars took their Chevrolet Impala SS to Charlotte Motor Speedway last week. Operated by Bruton Smith , Charlotte has been one of NASCAR’s premiere tracks since opening its gates in 1960. Vying with Daytona International Speedway as the “home of NASCAR,” CMS  is one of the most prestigious tracks on the calendar; one that requires sim-racers to push their cars to the limit and dodge high speed crashes that are — inevitably — thrown their way. This week saw Western Canada’s Austin Ognoski top the NiNS points-earners with 172 points his name at Charlotte. Ognoski beat-out Josh Fox (155 points), while Jordan Werth third on the week with 154 championship points, a total matched by Chris Melvin, while Tyler Head (148 points) rounded-out the top [...]

Gilliland’s Last Lap Dash Beats Crawford in NiSWC Opener

by Jason Lofing on March 13th, 2013

Gilliland nips Crawford in the run to the line as chaos erupts in their mirrors.

Adam Gilliland held-off Jared Crawford in a door-to-door battle to the checkered flag as the field wrecked behind them to win the season opener of the 2013 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship at Daytona International Speedway. The win is Gilliland’s first victory in just five career NiSWC starts. “I had an amazing car in both qualifying trim and race trim.  I can’t thank (teammates) Matt Whitten and John Ritchey enough,” said Gilliland. The series debut of the Gen-6 Chevrolet SS and Ford Fusion came down to a one lap shootout with Gilliland on the inside line being pushed by Tyler Hudson and Crawford on the outside pushed by Brad Davies. Gilliland looked to be the odd man out against teammates Crawford and Hudson after losing his teammate Whitten to an [...]

Luza’s Week in the Sun

by Chris Owens on March 11th, 2013

Some 550 iRacers traveled to the Valley of the Sun for Week Five of the NiCBS.

Week Five of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series found its way to the Valley of the Sun and Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.  95 laps would be the task for each driver to see who could master the mile flat track in the Arizona desert.  Following last week’s events at the Daytona International Speedway, teams and drivers were ready to move away from the restrictor plate racing and see who had the best setup and skill to claim the victory. 550 sim-racers took to the track for the fifth week of the season.  Ryan Luza would claim the most points for the week (332) during the Strength of Field (SOF) event on Friday night.  Luza bested Clayton Celovsky in the 5225-rated field, leading 85 of the 95 laps.  [...]

Karlavige has already driven his Gen-6 Chevy SS to Victory Lane.

Jason Karlavige, the 22 year from Pennsylvanian joined the iRacing.com service back in August of 2009. Like any oval iRacer, he started in the Legends car at tracks like Lanier National Speedway, and has since moved-up to running — and winning — in the Nationwide cars the Generation 5 Cup cars and the newly released Generation 6 Chevrolet SS. Over the course of the next several months, he will be wheeling his Obutto Gaming Cockpits Chevy SS in the NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship, driving for Wheelman Incorporated. You can watch him in the first race of the season Tuesday night (9 pm eastern time) on iRacing Live at Daytona International Speedway for 100 laps around the famed oval. In this week’s edition of Get to know, I get to [...]

The NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship kicks off its fourth season Tuesday night at 9 pm eastern time with a brand new race car and 50 drivers ready to compete for the $10,500 championship prize. NASCAR’s new Generation 6 car makes its series debut Tuesday at Daytona as 49 drivers try to dethrone two-time defending champion Ray Alfalla. Also new for 2013 is a partnership with the Motor Racing Network (MRN).   Famous for their superior radio coverage of NASCAR, MRN.com will be streaming live coverage of all 18 NiSWC races in 2013, complimenting the now-traditional broadcast coverage on iRacing Live. The biggest change going into the 2013 season is the new car. Unlike in previous seasons where the car has only undergone minor changes, the Gen 6 car will throw [...]

Miller Tops Class B Daytona

by Chris Owens on March 4th, 2013

More than

Week Four of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series took sim-racers to the high banks of the Daytona International Speedway.  To be successful at Daytona, drivers needed to find the right partner to make their way to the front of the field  . . . and stay there . . . risking everything to be called a winner at Daytona. With most of the regular drivers taking the week off at the restrictor plate track, a whole new crop of drivers had a chance to lay their claim to fame.  Ashley Miller (Carolina) would collected 306 total points for the week, the most of the 1,358 sim racers who took to the track.  Tom Moustakas (New York) with 296 starts would come home second in points for the week ahead [...]

Burmeister, Eszenyi Top iRacing Daytona 500

Benjamin Burmeister (DE-AT-CH) and Steve Eszenyi (Connecticut) were the big winners in last weekend’s iRacing Daytona 500, the third event in the 2013 World Tour of iRacing. Eszenyi took the win over Derek Crone (Virginias) and Dwayne Vincent (MidSouth) in Friday evening’s top SOF (5435) split, while Burmeister scored a dramatic last lap victory – passing Kenny Humpe and winning a photo finish with Nicholas Morse – to snatch the laurels in Saturday’s top SOF (5484) split.  With Eszenyi finishing a disappointing P36 on Saturday, overall honors went to Burmeister. The “twin 500s” totaled 77 splits in all, with 40 races of 42 or 43 starters on Friday and 37 more on Saturday. All told nearly 2700 iRacers participated in the events (2699 to be precise!), with 556 taking the [...]

Cater the Magician

Crochart (2), seen battling with Scribner, came away from the Granite State atop the NiCBS standings.

Week Three of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class B Series found the series in the northeast at the “Magic Mile,” aka New Hampshire Motor Speedway.  A flat, one mile track that provides a lot of action, NHMS has been a stop on the Class B Series since its introduction in to the iRacing.com service. David Cater worked his brand of magic to best 465 sim-racers in overall points for the week, taking home 302 points in two starts.  Cater would win both his starts, with his points coming from the Friday night Strength of Field event.  30 sim-racers went to battle on the Granite State’s one mile oval for 90 laps. Although Ryan Luza dominated the early portion of the online race, he ran into trouble with less than twenty laps [...]

Week 3 Richmond Fixed P1

Week Three of the NASCAR iRacing.com Class C Series (fixed setup) goes deep into NASCAR country with a trip to Richmond International Raceway. In many sports, playing at home is usually a great advantage. This proved true in the sim-racing world as well. This week, a local Virginian earned the most championship points while an out-of-towner from Texas took the checkered flag in the high Strength of Field event. Ryan Luza (Texas) was able to win the week’s high Strength of Field event in dominating fashion, leading 42 of the race’s 50 laps en route to a 0.554 second margin of victory over Matthew Wright2 (New York). Brenden Koehler (Pennsylvania) finished in the third position after starting 13th and avoiding carnage. Jim Caudill Jr (Mid-South) came home in the fourth [...]
