Monaco practice quotes: Lotus
May 23rd, 2013
Kimi Raikkonen – 11th/6th: “I was much happier at the end of today than this morning. We spent the first session getting the steering right as it wasn’t great at the beginning, then we changed a few things on the car and it felt far better. We’ve still got a few other areas to improve, but it was getting stronger with every run today.
Bahrain practice quotes: Lotus
April 19th, 2013
Kimi Raikkonen – 9th/1st: “It’s nice to be fastest but you never know what the others are doing; we just stick to our programme and don’t take too much notice of what else is happening. I actually made a mistake through the final corners on my fastest lap, so there’s still more time to be found.
China race quotes: Lotus
April 14th, 2013
Kimi Raikkonen – 2nd: “Second wasn’t quite what we wanted, but in the circumstances it was the best that we could manage today.
China qualifying quotes: Toro Rosso
April 13th, 2013
Daniel Ricciardo – 7th: “It’s nice to be in Q3. It’s the first time since Bahrain last year that I’ve made it to the top ten, so that’s nearly a whole year. I am definitely looking forward to having a strong race tomorrow and will give it all I’ve got to make the most of this seventh place on the grid
China practice quotes: Lotus
April 12th, 2013
Kimi Raikkonen – 11th/2nd: “If you look at the lap time it looks to have been a pretty okay day. For sure there are things we have to improve and you never know what will happen tomorrow but it’s a reasonable start to the weekend.
Malaysia qualifying quotes: Ferrari
March 23rd, 2013
Fernando Alonso – 3rd: “I am very happy with this position as it’s been too long since I qualified in the top three! Something I have usually managed to achieve in the race has been missing for quite a while: maybe the rain helped us a bit as we were not the quickest in the dry, but starting in the top three gives us a realistic chance of a podium finish and we can even dream about winning. “In Q3, when we had seen the track was drying quickly, we had a moment’s hesitation, because in the dry, the intermediates only last one or two laps before beginning to degrade. But in the end, it seemed the most sensible choice and it worked out well
Malaysia qualifying quotes: Toro Rosso
March 23rd, 2013
Daniel Ricciardo – 13th: “Coming into qualifying today, if I’d been told I could sign on the dotted line for thirteenth, I’d have taken it. It’s a decent result and we haven’t been that far up the time sheets all weekend in practice. Looking at it that way, thirteenth is quite good, but in Q1, we were quite competitive and only one hundredth of a second from the top ten
US Friday quotes: Lotus
November 16th, 2012
Kimi Raikkonen – 14th/11th: “It’s a nice circuit to drive; the sectors are quite different so there’s a good challenge there. Of course, like with any new track there was no grip at the start of the day which doesn’t give you a very good feeling, but as the grip improves it will be more fun to drive for sure. This morning was very slippery, this afternoon less so but you still can’t really push and it’s a bit tricky to find the limit.
FIA to restrict DRS use next year
November 15th, 2012
The FIA is to restrict the use of DRS anywhere on the circuit except in the allocated zones during practice and qualifying on grand prix weekends next year. Since the system was introduced at the start of the 2011 season, drivers have been free to use the DRS as they want during practice and qualifying with the activation zone applying only in the race. But FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting recently informed the teams that he is no longer happy with this for safety reasons amid concerns about drivers risking deploying the DRS early at the exit of corners.

Bahar dismissed from Group Lotus role
June 7th, 2012

In a statement issued by Group Lotus, it said: “The decision was made by the Board of Group Lotus plc following the results of an investigation into a complaint made against him by the company’s penultimate holding company, DRB-HICOM Berhad.” Bahar was the man who spearheaded the idea of rebranding the Renault team as Lotus for this season.
Hamilton loses Spanish GP pole
May 12th, 2012
Pastor Maldonado will start from pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix after Lewis Hamilton was excluded from qualifying for not returning to the pits after setting his best lap. Hamilton’s McLaren was found to not have had enough fuel on board to comply with the rules that demand a car returns to the pits under its own power after qualifying with enough petrol for a one-litre sample to be provided to the FIA. Only under circumstances of ‘force majeure’ are drivers allowed to stop on that slowing down lap – and stopping deliberately because there is not enough fuel to finish the tour and supply that sample is not acceptable.

McLaren insists that it is fully focused on a future with current partner Mercedes-Benz, despite recent speculation linking it with a switch to Honda. Although McLaren and Mercedes-Benz’s relationship has shifted from equity partners to customers in recent years, with the German car manufacturer’s primary efforts now on its own works team, there appears to be every intention for the relationship to continue
HVM to use Lotus engines in 2012
November 17th, 2011
HVM has become the second team to confirm it will use Lotus engines in the 2012 IndyCar Series, after Michael Shank Racing announced last month that it was use the motors for its entry into the category. HVM team owner and former Formula 1 entrant Keith Wiggins said of the decision that he had no doubts about switching to Lotus power for the new-for-2012 format instead of the Honda or Chevrolet options. “Despite the choices, once it was apparent that Lotus would produce an engine, it was a clear decision for us to run with them,” said Wiggins.
