Karam hangs on for first Lights win

Sage Karam survived a late restart to take the win in this weekend’s Indy Lights race at Milwaukee. Karam started from pole, but lost the lead to Zach Veach early on. He reclaimed the advantage just after the halfway mark and opened a gap, only to lose it when Peter Dempsey spun and brushed the wall with five laps remaining
Vietoris claims maiden DTM pole

Christian Vietoris took his maiden DTM pole position in a closely-fought qualifying session at Lausitz on Saturday. The German’s 1m17.715s lap in the single-lap Q4 shootout proved too good for HWA team-mate Gary Paffett, who was 0.2 seconds slower on his own lap minutes later

New Porsche LMP1 completes rollout

Porsche’s first challenger for outright honours at the Le Mans 24 Hours for 16 years has run for the first time ahead of schedule. The new Porsche LMP1 hybrid was given a rollout today on the German manufacturer’s Weissach test track at its research and development facility by factory driver Timo Bernhard. The shakedown for the coupe, which has been built to the 2014 energy-based LMP1 rulebook for next year’s World Endurance Championship, was described as “several weeks” ahead of schedule

Sebastian Vettel beat Lewis Hamilton to Canadian Grand Prix pole in a wet qualifying session, as Valtteri Bottas starred to put Williams third. The rain level fluctuated throughout each segment, and in Q3 the best shot at pole came in the opening moments before track conditions deteriorated further
Webber fastest in shortened practice

Mark Webber grabbed the fastest time in a crazy final Montreal Formula 1 practice, as barrier damage halved the session and the track dried with moments remaining. Half the session was lost to barrier repairs, required following a heavy crash at Turn 11 in a Ferrari support race.
Plato storms to Oulton Park pole

Jason Plato topped British Touring Car qualifying at Oulton Park with a dominant performance in his works MG. Plato set a 1m26.130s early on in the session and then sat in the pits as his rivals repeatedly tried – and failed – to match him. Reigning champion Gordon Shedden’s works Honda Civic got closest with 1m26.429s, only to lose the time for exceeding the track limits
