Audi heads 2012 Le Mans entry list

Audi heads the entry for this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours with a four-car assault that will include two hybrid versions of its R18 coupe. The German manufacturer has opted to split its entry between its new diesel-electric hybrid, which has been testing since last autumn, and a conventional turbodiesel version of the R18. Raikkonen seals WRC return

Kimi Raikkonen will return to the World Rally Championship this year after his entry for the season-opening Rally Sweden was lodged on Tuesday. As AUTOSPORT revealed last month , Raikkonen has agreed terms to compete in a Citroen DS3 WRC for 2011 – although the deal has not yet been officially confirmed. Hamilton: Fourth was the maximum

Lewis Hamilton accepted that fourth position on the grid was the best he could have achieved in qualifying for the Korean Grand Prix on Saturday, although he also revealed he was disappointed not to have been closer to pole position. The 2008 world champion had shown strong form through practice and was quickest in Q1, but in the end was outpaced by the two Red Bulls and Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari – which he said afterwards his McLaren had no answer for. “Of course we wanted to be on pole,” Hamilton told the BBC .

Vettel: Pitlane speed measuring wrong

Sebastian Vettel wants the FIA to change the way that the pitlane speed limit is measured in the wake of the penalty he was issued during the Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver’s hopes of victory were dashed when he was handed a drive-through penalty for exceeding the speed limit in the pits after his final stop. Post-race analysis of Vettel’s car by Red Bull Racing showed that his car had never actually exceeded doing 100 km/h limit in the pits
Theissen confirms Ferrari engine deal

Mario Theissen has confirmed that the BMW Sauber team will be Ferrari powered if it is confirmed in the 2010 field under its new ownership. After BMW’s decision to withdraw from Formula 1, the squad has been rescued by the Qadbak investment group, but its chances of racing next season depend on the FIA convincing the rest of the pitlane to allow the entry to expand to 14 teams, or another team dropping out
