Kubica thrilled with rally form so far

Robert Kubica has admitted he is pleased with the rally-leading speed he has shown early in his new career. The Pole led his third European Rally Championship round in succession in last week’s Tour of Corsica , but he failed to turn that promise into a win when a fuel pump problem struck his Citroen DS3 RRC towards the end of the opening day. “I’ve been pleased with my pace, I’ve won stages and I’ve been able to fight at the top on all three rallies I have done,” said Kubica

Bernstorff set for Masters of F3 seat

Anglo-Danish racer Emil Bernstorff is to return to the top level of Formula 3 in the non-championship Masters event at Zandvoort in July. Bernstorff, who has won two races in the German F3 Cup this season, will drive Italian team EuroInternational’s second Dallara-Mercedes, which is yet to be raced this year. He will link up with EuroInternational’s regular F3 European Championship driver Tom Blomqvist.

Marciello beats Lynn in race two

Ferrari junior driver Raffaele Marciello turned the tables on Alex Lynn by winning the second race of the Formula 3 European Championship weekend at Brands Hatch. The Italian once again got a better start than poleman Lynn, but this time was able to sweep around the outside of the sister Prema Powerteam Dallara-Mercedes before turning into the first corner. Championship leader Marciello’s lead grew nearly to five seconds, but Lynn began to slash into the gap when the leader became mired in lapped traffic.
Lynn claims maiden win at Brands

Alex Lynn claimed his maiden win in the Formula 3 European Championship after leading from start to finish at Brands Hatch on Saturday morning. From pole position, Lynn held off the challenge of championship-leading Prema team-mate Raffaele Marciello at the first corner. The Italian put the local man under pressure throughout the race, and from before mid-distance the leading pair of Dallara-Mercedes cars had to deal with a host of lapped traffic.

Auer sets practice pace at Brands Hatch

Lucas Auer set the fastest time during the 80 minutes of free practice ahead of this weekend’s Formula 3 European Championship round at Brands Hatch. Boardman out of Austria, Russia

Special Tuning Racing’s Tom Boardman has withdrawn from the next two World Touring Car rounds in Austria and Russia respectively. The team had travelled to this weekend’s round at the Salzburgring, but have now taken the decision to return home in an attempt to fully fix the car. Boardman has suffered from a continuous string of setbacks and misfortunes over the opening four races of the season.

Rossi joins Greaves for Le Mans

Caterham Formula 1 reserve driver Alexander Rossi will race a Greaves Motorsport Zytek LMP2 at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the colours of the grand prix team. The deal between the F1 team and Greaves means that the American driver, a frontrunner in GP2 this year with the Caterham Racing squad, will line up alongside three-time Le Mans class winner Tom Kimber-Smith and former American Le Mans Series LMPC champion Eric Lux in one of the two Greaves Zytek-Nissan Z11SNs.
Mercedes benefiting from Kubica help

Robert Kubica’s Mercedes Formula 1 simulator tests are helping the team as well as assisting the Pole in his path towards a potential grand prix comeback, says the firm’s motorsport boss Toto Wolff. AUTOSPORT understands that Kubica has now had multiple sessions in the simulator at Mercedes’ base in Brackley. Wolff is adamant that there is no long-term plan in place between Kubica and the Mercedes F1 team, but says that his current sessions are mutually beneficial given the Pole’s level of grand prix experience.
