Sebastien Loeb clinched his eighth Rally Argentina victory with an ultimately dominant performance on what is planned to be his penultimate World Rally Championship appearance. Making the third of just four scheduled WRC starts this year, the partially-retired Loeb feared he would be too rusty to match the dominant Sebastien Ogier, who initially pulled away. With Dani Sordo having damaged his Citroen while chasing Ogier, and Mads Ostberg having rolled his M-Sport Ford while holding the VW off on Friday, the World Rally Championship leader is successfully seeing his rivals off. Rally GB aims for fan-friendly route

Rally GB’s route will feature spectator stages again this year as Britain’s World Rally Championship round makes a push to reconnect with its fanbase. The 2013 GB itinerary does not allow for a full day of spectator stages, as was once traditional, stately home-style tests will be included in the route for the first time since 1999. When Rally GB moved to Cardiff in 2000, spectator stages were binned in favour of the superspecials in the docks area and the Millennium Stadium

Sebastien Ogier completed his domination of Rally Mexico as he wrapped up victory and a maximum score on Sunday’s final loop of stages. Ogier had a scare after the morning’s opening Guanajuatito stage when he had to spend 20 minutes fixing a sensor issue on his Volkswagen.

Sebastien Ogier survived a scare with a closed gate on SS18 of Rally Mexico to take a near three-minute lead into the final day. The dominant Volkswagen lost half a minute on Otates when Ogier encountered a gate that had been closed across the stage prior to him coming through. He had to stop so that co-driver Julien Ingrassia could open the gate and let them continue.

The Finn’s DS3 WRC was seven tenths of a second up on M-Sport Ford driver Evgeny Novikov. Sebastien Ogier’s Rally Sweden lead was eroded by Sebastien Loeb on the final morning, but the Volkswagen driver was confident he would not come under threat. Loeb began Sunday with a trio of stage wins, bringing his Citroen to within 20.7 seconds of Ogier. A calm Ogier insisted he was just protecting his lead, and with only three stages to go, VW still looks to be on course for its maiden World Rally Championship win with the new Polo R WRC.

Qatar M-Sport team leader Mads Ostberg says his fifth position on the Monte Carlo Rally was as much as he could have expected on his debut as the team’s new leader. Ostberg’s Monte debut drew praise from his team principal Malcolm Wilson, especially with the 24-year-old Fiesta RS WRC driver scoring a fastest time on the event as well.
Loeb wins as final stages cancelled

Sebastien Loeb clinched his seventh Monte Carlo Rally victory early as the final two stages of the 2013 event were cancelled on safety grounds. Heavy rain had moved into the previously icy and snowy region as the cars were in the mid-evening service, and as the worsening conditions prompted hordes of spectators to leave the stages, local roads became badly congested.
