Faster tracks to benefit Ferrari – Massa
June 17th, 2013
Felipe Massa believes Formula 1′s return to fast venues like Silverstone will help Ferrari get back on terms with Red Bull. The recent venues of Monaco and Montreal have not played to the strengths of the Ferrari package, and Massa’s team-mate Fernando Alonso has lost ground to Sebastian Vettel in the drivers’ championship. But rather than feel that the last two outings are an indication that Ferrari’s development push has stalled, Massa thinks that the next few races will show that the Maranello outfit can still deliver the form that has helped it win two races so far this year

June 12th, 2013
Lewis Hamilton believes that Mercedes will still need a good step up in form for the British Grand Prix if it is going to be able to challenge Red Bull and Ferrari. Although the Briton is upbeat about the progress his team has made in the last couple of races with its long-run form, he has warned his home fans not to get too excited about his prospects for Silverstone
Fritsche Charges, Narrows Moreira’s Lead
by Katier Scott on June 10th, 2013
It was business as usual as the field moved to Watkins Glen with Gernot Fritsche taking maximum points in the week’s Classic Team Championship battles, narrowing the gap to series leader Nuno Moreira by 11 points. Watkins Glen is usually a popular track, often boasting the highest participation of the entire season for any series, and this week proved to be no different as 159 drivers took part in 18 online race starts during the course of seven days. Peter Duggan, David Ballew and Jean-Francois Boscus made the most starts during the course of the week, each registering seven starts, although only Duggan was able to win any of his races. He finished with three victories but poor results elsewhere resulted in him only scoring 101 points while the other [...]
Canada race quotes: Mercedes
June 9th, 2013
Lewis Hamilton – 3rd: “The car felt fantastic today and I had good grip for the low-speed corners but we just weren’t quite on the pace of Seb and Fernando. I was on the maximum that I could possibly drive and we got absolutely everything out of the car today. It would have been nice to have kept second place of course but Fernando was very quick today and it was difficult to keep him behind.
Massa: crash streak like a movie
June 8th, 2013
Felipe Massa described his run of crashes in the last two grands prix as being akin to a movie storyline, as an accident in Canadian Grand Prix qualifying dropped him to 16th on the grid. The Montreal incident followed two shunts in Monaco – one in practice and one in the race – at the same corner. While the first was a driver error, the second was caused by a suspension problem.
Boullier wants tyre testing discussion
June 7th, 2013
Formula 1 teams need to sit down with Pirelli and sort out a way of ensuring that all outfits are treated equally in the wake of the Mercedes secret test controversy, reckons Lotus boss Eric Boullier. Mercedes is due to face an FIA International Tribunal hearing to answer charges that it may have breached F1′s rules by running its 2013 car in a recent test it conducted for Pirelli at Barcelona. While Boullier has faith that the FIA will ensure that any rules breach is punished, he thinks that there also needs to be some discussions with Pirelli about how to move forward.

Alonso: Ferrari too slow in Monaco
May 26th, 2013
Fernando Alonso says his Ferrari simply lacked the necessary pace to fight for a podium place in the Monaco Grand Prix. The Spaniard, who won his home grand prix at Barcelona just a fortnight ago, qualified sixth, before slipping back to seventh during the race. While Alonso did spend a portion of the race with reduced aero thanks to having a piece of Sergio Perez’s McLaren stuck to his Ferrari’s floor, he said the main problem was a general lack of pace.
Perez: Raikkonen at fault in collision
May 26th, 2013
Sergio Perez believes his incident with Kimi Raikkonen in the closing stages of the Monaco Grand Prix could have been avoided if the Lotus driver had given him room. Perez tried to pass the Finn for fifth place into the chicane having pulled off successful moves on Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button in previous laps, but the pair made contact. Raikkonen suffered a left-rear puncture as a result and was forced to pit, though he recovered to finish 10th, while Perez retired with brake problems just a few laps from the finish
