Sebastien Loeb says he is under no pressure to perform in Rally Argentina. Competing on gravel for the first time this year, the seven-time winner of this event admitted it took him some time to find the right feeling again on Wednesday’s shakedown and qualifying stages. “I haven’t competed on gravel since Catalunya,” he said, “and I did only one day of testing, so for sure I didn’t do as much as I might have done.

Mercedes’ difficult Bahrain Grand Prix is not a sign that its 2013 season is on the slide, insists team boss Ross Brawn. After podium finishes for Lewis Hamilton in Malaysia and China, Brawn declared that Bahrain would be an acid test for Mercedes given that it had previously struggled at the track. Although Nico Rosberg took a surprise pole position, he tumbled to ninth in the race, while Hamilton could only get up to fifth having been off the pace in the early laps .

Romain Grosjean will get a new chassis for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix as he continues to try to get on top of his problems. The Lotus driver has struggled with the handling of his car and has been unable to match the pace of his team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, especially in race conditions, where Grosjean is finding it very hard to make his tyres work properly. In order to rule out any car problems, AUTOSPORT has learned that Lotus has decided to bring a new chassis for Grosjean at Sakhir

Sebastian Vettel does not think Red Bull’s Chinese Grand Prix strategy was wrong, despite failing to finish on the podium. Red Bull chose not to get involved in the pole fight, declining to set a Q3 time and instead starting Vettel on medium tyres from ninth on the grid. Although fourth-placed Vettel was the highest finisher among the drivers using that tactic, he was beaten by Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton

Ducati is struggling to find the right direction and still has to refine its raceday set-up according to riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden. Both riders finished more than two seconds down on Honda’s Casey Stoner in qualifying, with Hayden also slipping behind the lead CRT bike of Randy de Puniet. Vitaly Petrov insists that he is still in contention to stay with Caterham next year amid question marks over whether he can raise the necessary funding. The 28-year-old remains in the frame to drive Caterham for a second year despite his manager, Oksana Kosachenko, suggesting in the Russian media last month that they were struggling to raise the money.
