Audi in control in Spa WEC practice
May 3rd, 2013
Audi led the way in free practice ahead of Saturday’s second round of the World Endurance Championship at Spa. Andre Lotterer posted the fastest time of the day aboard the #1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro with a 2m01.276s lap late on in the second of the pair of two-hour sessions. That time, set in the high-downforce R18, eclipsed by two tenths the previous fastest time set by Lucas di Grassi in the new long-tail version of the car Audi is planning to run at the Le Mans 24 Hours next month

Alonso says he has nothing to lose
November 22nd, 2012
Fernando Alonso believes he has nothing to lose in the Brazilian Grand Prix as he aims beat Sebastian Vettel to the 2012 Formula 1 championship title. The Ferrari driver arrives at the season finale 13 points behind the Red Bull driver after they finished third and second respectively in the previous race in the United States. Vettel is favourite for the title not only because of his points advantage but because of the pace of his car compared with Alonso’s
Toyota defeats Audi in Fuji thriller
October 14th, 2012
Toyota claimed a second FIA World Endurance Championship victory in five attempts in a thrilling battle with Audi at Fuji. After six hours of racing, Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima took the win aboard their TS030 HYBRID by just 11 seconds from the Audi R18 e-tron quattro driven by Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler. Third place went to the second Audi shared by Allan McNish and Tom Kristensen
Ferrari ‘still in control’ of title
September 5th, 2012
Ferrari believes the destiny of the world championship is still firmly under its control, despite Fernando Alonso’s first lap exit from the Belgian Grand Prix . Alonso saw his 40-point lead in the title standings reduced to just 24 after Spa, which is far from comfortable considering Ferrari does not have the quickest car. But team principal Stefano Domenicali is not worried by the situation, and instead thinks the attitude which helped the team lift itself from its pre-season troubles can help it end the campaign on top.
Vettel pins hopes on race strategy
May 26th, 2012
Sebastian Vettel reckons anything is possible in Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix and remains positive that his strategy of starting on the soft compound option tyre could play into his hands during the race. Last year’s winner from pole, Vettel gave up on his qualifying attempt in Q3 in order to save his tyres, and will start from ninth on the grid after Pastor Maldonado takes his 10-place grid penalty. But while the world champion accepted that starting mid-pack made his race more challenging, he suggested that being able to run longer on his first stint than all those that qualified on supersoft tyres could play into his hands in terms of track position.
Audi hybrid leads first Spa practice
May 3rd, 2012
Audi dominated the first free practice session for the World Endurance Championship six hour race at Spa Francorchamps with Benoit Treluyer setting the pace in one of the R18 e-tron quattro hybrid cars. The French driver’s time of 2m04.434s was not quite matched by compatriot Romain Dumas in the conventional R18 Ultra – which was 0.044 seconds slower

Alonso not giving up on title yet
June 14th, 2011
Fernando Alonso says he will not give up on his world championship hopes until he is mathematically out of contention – despite conceding that matters were now out of his hands. The Spaniard drifted to 92 points off series leader Sebastian Vettel after the Canadian Grand Prix – when his hopes of victory were wrecked by bad luck with the timing of the weather, and then a clash with Jenson Button that left him unable to continue. Although the deficit to Vettel means he needs a run of four race wins, with his rival not scoring, to take the lead of the title chase – the Spaniard is refusing to concede it is all over.
