Razia in the groove for Toro Rosso
November 6th, 2012
Toro Rosso says Luiz Razia’s proficiency on his first day with the team led to a productive first day of testing in Abu Dhabi. The Brazilian has previous F1 experience, having tested several times for Caterham and also earlier this year for Force India. Razia, runner-up in this year’s GP2 championship, ended the day sixth fastest, having helped the team evaluate its aero and brake systems across the day
Red Bull: Double-DRS not key to upturn
October 8th, 2012
Red Bull does not believe the double-DRS it has run since the Singapore Grand Prix has been key to its turnaround in form. Sebastian Vettel put himself firmly back in the hunt for the world championship with victories in Singapore and Japan – as it emerged in Suzuka that the team has followed Mercedes’ lead and raced a double-DRS
Grosjean: No regrets about wild lap
September 22nd, 2012
Romain Grosjean has no regrets about his wild final lap in qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix – despite only ending up eighth on the grid . The Frenchman had looked set for a place near the front after showing strongly in Q1 and Q2, but a slide at Turn 9 in Q3 and a big lock-up into the chicane cost him valuable time. But despite not showing the full potential of the Lotus on what has been a difficult weekend for the Enstone team , Grosjean felt that he did the right thing in attacking so hard on that final lap.
Ferrari ‘still in control’ of title
September 5th, 2012
Ferrari believes the destiny of the world championship is still firmly under its control, despite Fernando Alonso’s first lap exit from the Belgian Grand Prix . Alonso saw his 40-point lead in the title standings reduced to just 24 after Spa, which is far from comfortable considering Ferrari does not have the quickest car. But team principal Stefano Domenicali is not worried by the situation, and instead thinks the attitude which helped the team lift itself from its pre-season troubles can help it end the campaign on top.
Viso stays with KV Racing
February 27th, 2012
KV Racing has confirmed that EJ Viso will stay with the team for a third season in the IndyCar Series. The Venezuelan, who has competed in American single seater racing since 2008, has been a regular in KV’s pre-season testing line-up, which has also featured lead driver Tony Kanaan and 11-time grand prix winner Rubens Barrichello, who could still land a third seat with the team. “I am very happy to be back with KV Racing,” said Viso.
Hulkenberg happy to recover lost ground
February 10th, 2012
Nico Hulkenberg says a positive final day helped the team recover lost ground after Jules Bianchi’s crash brought their day three programme to an early close. The German had been due to get his first taste of the team’s 2012 Formula 1 car on Thursday afternoon, but all running was halted when Bianchi went off into the gravel in bitter conditions. Hulkenberg admitted the crash had put back some testing plans, but said a 90-lap run on the final day had limited the damage.
De Puniet buoyed by first Aspar test
December 1st, 2011
Randy de Puniet said an encouraging first test with Aspar, for whom he will compete in MotoGP next year, had left him optimistic ahead of his 2012 campaign. De Puniet had tested for Suzuki this winter, but when the Japanese manufacturer withdrew its works team at the end of this season he announced a deal with Aspar, where he will compete alongside Aleix Espargaro. The team will use Aprilia-powered CRT bikes for 2012, which were rolled out for the first time in a private test at Jerez recently.
Massa: Hard tyres would harm Ferrari
June 27th, 2011
Felipe Massa believes Ferrari’s ever-improving challenge against Red Bull Racing could be stalled at the British Grand Prix if Pirelli elects to take its hard tyre to that event.
Melo: Salo tyre call inspired GT2 win
September 27th, 2009
Jaime Melo put Risi Competizione’s victory in the GT2 category of Petit Le Mans down to an inspired call by co-driver Mika Salo who pitted earlier than his rivals for wet tyres when the #62 Ferrari F430 was running fourth behind the safety car. Salo spotted the cars in front of him slipping around more and more as the rain ,which eventually ended the race five hours early, became heavier.
