Ericsson leads all-DAMS front row

Marcus Ericsson will start round five of the 2013 GP2 Series at Barcelona from pole position, leading a one-two for reigning champion DAMS ahead of team-mate Stephane Richelmi. Ericsson, who had not scored a point this season until taking the four for pole position – his first-ever in the series – left it late to grab the top spot, having previously led the way for much of the session only for Richelmi to look like he had snatched it late on
Nasr dominates practice for Carlin

Felipe Nasr set the fastest time by over three quarters of a second in the free practice session for the third race weekend of the GP2 Series season at Barcelona. Track conditions were dry following the first Formula 1 session , and conditions were ideal for quick times from the off. Jolyon Palmer was first to set the fastest time for Carlin, soon toppled by reigning Formula Renault 3.5 champion Robin Frijns (Hilmer).
Calado to be managed by Nicolas Todt

James Calado’s career will be overseen by Nicolas Todt, with the GP2 racer having joined Todt’s All Road Management stable. Todt already manages Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa, Jules Bianchi and Pastor Maldonado, and is confident Calado can join them
Bird wins sprint race thriller by 0.08s

Sam Bird scored a stunning Bahrain GP2 Series sprint race victory at the Sakhir circuit, the first ever win for the new Russian Time team, after a thrilling battle to the chequered flag with Felipe Nasr. The winning margin was just 0.08s at the finish line, as longtime leader Bird’s tyres went off in the closing laps, allowing points leader Stefano Coletti (Rapax) and Nasr (Carlin) to catch him.

GP2 frontrunner James Calado has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for a clash on lap one of the Sepang sprint race . The ART driver was challenging feature race winner Fabio Leimer when he clipped the rear of the Racing Engineering machine in the braking zone for Turn 4.

Coletti sets pace as GP2 test ends

GP2 veteran Stefano Coletti set the pace on the final day of pre-season testing at Barcelona on Thursday. The Rapax driver came out on top during a flurry of activity in the morning session, as most drivers ran the soft tyre compound once the track had dried out. Coletti was also one of the leading runners in the slower afternoon session, setting the second fastest time on the hard tyre as Felipe Nasr led the way with a soft compound run

Tom Dillmann was fastest for newcomer team Hilmer Motorsport on the first day of 2013 GP2 testing at Jerez on Tuesday. Dillmann, who was a race-winner during a part-season with Rapax last year, finished the quicker afternoon session 0.2 seconds faster than Racing Engineering’s returnee Fabio Leimer. Felipe Nasr, now at Carlin, completed the top three, followed by ART’s James Calado and Lazarus driver Rene Binder

Leimer joined the team for the GP2 Final event in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2011 , which he won overall, but could not translate that form into a title challenge last year, finishing seventh in the standings. But team boss Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon is confident Leimer will be a championship threat this season

James Calado passed fit for GP2 race

James Calado will participate in Sunday’s GP2 sprint race in Singapore despite suffering from food poisoning. The Lotus driver was forced to retire from Saturday’s feature race because of the illness, and there were fears that he would join Coloni driver Luca Filippi on the sidelines today. But after treatment since the race, the 23-year-old now feels fit enough to start
