Nash snatches first WTCC victory
May 19th, 2013
James Nash claimed his breakthrough World Touring Car victory while Yvan Muller once again surged through the field to capture second in the Salzburgring finale. Nash, starting on reverse-grid pole, had initially lost out to Norbert Michelisz’s Zengo Honda on the run down to the first corner, but fought his way back immediately to regain the lead by the end of the first lap. The duo held position until the penultimate lap, when Michelisz was demoted by a charging Muller, who had started from 10th
Nykjaer holds off Nash to win race one
May 19th, 2013
Michel Nykjaer resisted race-long pressure from James Nash to capture his second World Touring Car win of 2013 in a massively jumbled Salzburgring opener. Yvan Muller, whose provisional pole became 13th on the grid following a spate of post-qualifying penalties , meanwhile completed a remarkable charge through the field to finish third. The Frenchman almost got himself involved in the lead scrap, finishing just six tenths of a second off Nykjaer at the flag
Muller secures third pole of 2013
May 18th, 2013
Yvan Muller captured his third World Touring Car pole of 2013 in emphatic style at the Salzburgring. The Frenchman carried his practice form into the knockout session, and on fresh rubber – and with a tow from RML team-mate Tom Chilton – set a new record of 1m25.756s
Muller stays on top in Austria
May 18th, 2013
Yvan Muller continued his imperious early World Touring Car form at the Salzburgring to go half a second clear of the field in second practice. The Frenchman was once again able to dip under lap record pace, setting a 1m26.344s just five minutes from the end of the session.
Huff claims first win of 2013 season
May 5th, 2013
Rob Huff claimed the first victory of his World Touring Car title defence in a safety car-hit Hungaroring finale. A massive crash for Gabriele Tarquini, whose Honda Civic was sent spearing into the barriers on the outside of Turn 3 on the opening lap, brought out a four-lap caution period. Tarquini was able to walk away from his crash, but was subsequently put in a neck brace and then taken to hospital for checks
Muller wins race one from Michelisz
May 5th, 2013
Yvan Muller held off a late surge from home favourite Norbert Michelisz to claim victory in the opening World Touring Car race at the Hungaroring. The Frenchman protected his pole position advantage away from the start and seemed set to cruise to a third win as he gradually eased away from the field over the opening six laps.
Muller storms to Hungaroring pole
May 4th, 2013
Yvan Muller blazed to his 16th career World Touring Car pole with a record lap of the Hungaroring. The Frenchman banged in a 1m53.426s early in the final session and then simply watched as all his rivals fell well short of surpassing it.
Tarquini tops Honda practice one-two
May 4th, 2013
Gabriele Tarquini edged out team-mate Tiago Monteiro to set the pace for Honda in the opening World Touring Car Championship practice session at the Hungaroring. The Japanese marque, which triumphed last weekend in Slovakia courtesy of Tarquini, was never off the top spot as Tarquini, Monteiro and the Zengo-run Civic of Norbert Michelisz dominated the opening session. It was home favourite Michelisz who went fastest early on, but as the pace – led by Monteiro and Tarquini – improved, he dropped down the order
Tarquini leads Honda podium lockout
April 28th, 2013
Gabriele Tarquini delivered the first victory for Honda’s new World Touring Car project in Slovakia. Team-mate Tiago Monteiro followed him home in second, while Norbert Michelisz ensured a podium lockout for the Japanese marque as he held off Yvan Muller to finish third. Tarquini converted pole position into an early lead and gradually eased away from the field, his cause helped by the fact Monteiro, Michelisz and Muller spent much of the race within one second of each other
Huff handed 10-place grid penalty
April 27th, 2013
Rob Huff has been put back 10 places for the first World Touring Car race in Slovakia after his car failed a post-qualifying ride height check.
Tarquini leads Honda 1-2-3 on grid
April 27th, 2013
Gabriele Tarquini captured his and Honda’s second straight World Touring Car pole at the Slovakia Ring. The Japanese marque dominated the session, locking out the top three courtesy of Tiago Monteiro and Norbert Michelisz in the Zengo-run Civic. Three-time WTCC champion Yvan Muller was the only man who looked capable of denying the Hondas, but fell just short in Q2
Honda duo lead Slovakia Ring practice
April 27th, 2013
Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro both dipped under official lap record pace to put Honda firmly on top in the first World Touring Car practice at the Slovakia Ring. The pair spent almost the entire session at the top of the timesheets, with only a brief salvo from the RML Chevrolet of Yvan Muller denying them a clean sweep. It was Monteiro who began fastest, getting to within two thousandths of a second of Norbert Michelisz’s 2012 pole time in the opening nine minutes.

Lada says it was impressed with Mikhail Kozlovskiy’s ‘sensible approach’ to his World Touring Car debut on the streets of Marrakech, after his predecessor’s sacking for an intra-team crash. The 23-year-old Russian had just two weeks’ notice prior to his race debut . Lada had decided to axe Aleksei Dudukalo following his qualifying crash with team-mate James Thompson at Monza.

Lada has confirmed that Mikhail Kozlovskiy will replace Aleksei Dudukalo in its World Touring Car outfit from the second round of 2013 at Marrakech, as first revealed by AUTOSPORT in March. Dudukalo’s place in the team was understood to be in jeopardy following his qualifying accident at Monza
Lada clash could cost Dudukalo drive
March 25th, 2013
Lukoil is considering dropping Aleksei Dudukalo from the Lada World Touring Car Championship programme as a result of his intra-team qualifying crash at Monza. The 36-year-old Russian misjudged his braking and speared into the side of team-mate James Thompson’s Granta, a collision that ultimately led to both cars being withdrawn from Sunday’s races. AUTOSPORT understands that Lukoil, title sponsor of Lada’s new works outfit, is considering replacing Dudukalo for the rest of the season

Lada has been forced to withdraw both its cars from the opening World Touring Car Championship races as a result of the damage suffered in qualifying on Saturday. Aleksei Dudukalo misjudged his braking for Monza’s first chicane and ploughed into the side of team-mate James Thompson after just two laps of Q1. Thompson was able to rejoin and even set the ninth fastest time in Q2, giving him a front-row start for the second race.
Muller leads Chevrolet domination
March 23rd, 2013
Yvan Muller continued his impressive start to the 2013 World Touring Car Championship by blitzing final practice at Monza. The Frenchman had little in the way of serious competition, with only two men – RML team-mate Tom Chilton and Alex MacDowall in the Bamboo Engineering Cruze – able to get within one second of his 1m57.504s. That time is faster than Chevrolet managed at Monza in its time as a works squad.
