Button: McLaren better in Monaco
May 23rd, 2013
Jenson Button believes McLaren is in better shape for the Monaco Grand Prix, but that it needs to improve its qualifying pace to have a chance of taking advantage of that improvement. Although the team remained in the lower part of the top 10 in Thursday practice , Button said his feeling with the troubled car on long runs was better than of late
Rosberg fastest again in second practice
May 23rd, 2013
Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton proved that Mercedes’ Formula 1 rivals are right to fear its Monaco pace as they went first and second in Thursday afternoon practice in Monte Carlo. Following his consecutive poles in Bahrain and Spain, and fastest time in practice one in Monaco , Rosberg continued his strong run by topping the second session on a 1m14.759s. He set that lap less than half an hour into the session and it remained unbeaten for the rest of the afternoon, as teams instead focused on just how far they could push both the soft and super-soft tyre compounds
Perez: 2013 win hopes not lost
May 22nd, 2013
Sergio Perez has no doubt that McLaren will soon be winning grands prix again despite its upgrades failing to turn around its poor Formula 1 form. McLaren’s troubled 2013 car has yet to achieve a podium, and a substantial development package introduced at Barcelona did not elevate it up the order . Asked by AUTOSPORT if he still felt he could win this year, Perez acknowledged that it would be tough in the short-term but is certain it remains achievable
Button wants freedom over F1 future
May 22nd, 2013
Jenson Button wants to keep a feeling of ‘freedom’ over his Formula 1 future, despite McLaren’s insistence that he is welcome to stay put until the end of his career. McLaren managing director Jonathan Neale told UK newspapers last week that the 2009 world champion, who signed for the Woking team the following year, could remain with the team “as long as he wants”
Perez showing expected form – McLaren
May 21st, 2013

The Mexican driver scored just two points in his first three races with the team, but finished ahead of team-mate Jenson Button in Bahrai n and then outqualified the Briton for the first time at Barcelona. Whitmarsh feels Perez, who joined McLaren after two seasons with Sauber, is heading in the right direction as he settles in at his new team

McLaren’s new deal with Honda will enshrine the team’s place as one of the sport’s biggest players, according to team principal Martin Whitmarsh. McLaren denies use of team orders
May 13th, 2013
McLaren insists it did not order Sergio Perez to ease off in his Spanish Grand Prix battle against Jenson Button in an attempt to avoid a repeat of their Bahrain GP clash. Just one race after the pair came to blows at Sakhir with an over-aggressive fight for positions , the prospect of another wheel-to-wheel dice was on the cards at Barcelona when Perez closed in on his team-mate in the closing stages. However, a late radio message to the Mexican that told him to focus on conserving his tyres meant he abandoned his chase of Button, and he finished two seconds behind at the chequered flag.

McLaren shelved wing amid legality fear
May 11th, 2013
McLaren opted not to run its latest-specification front wing in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix because it did not have the chance to check it would pass the FIA’s bodywork flexibility tests. A pair of new front wings reached Barcelona overnight, but ahead of Saturday morning practice the decision was made not to risk running them without checking. “It was very tight,” said team principal Martin Whitmarsh when asked why the new front wing design was not used.

McLaren still long way off pace – Button
May 10th, 2013
Jenson Button admits McLaren’s first phase of a major series of upgrades has not led to radical improvements following the first two practice sessions at Barcelona. The Briton said instead improved correlation between simulations and on-track experience was the main cause for optimism, even if that remains more of a long-term fix. The team had said resolving its correlation problems was its chief priority in the build-up to this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

McLaren: no quick fix for car problems
May 10th, 2013
McLaren admits that fixing the problems on its MP4-28 is going to be a long-term project, as it further played down talk of a dramatic step forward in Spain this weekend. The Woking-based team has introduced at the Circuit de Catalunya a heavily revised car, which features a new front wing, rear wing, sidepods, tweaked rear suspension uprights and other minor changes

Button cautious about Spain upgrades
May 3rd, 2013
Jenson Button says his expectations are in check about McLaren’s update package for the Spanish Grand Prix, and that he is not letting himself believe they will transform its form.
