Johnson frustrated by Dover penalty
June 3rd, 2013
Jimmie Johnson admitted he was frustrated by his penalty in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Dover race, as he reckons Juan Pablo Montoya was partly to blame for it. Johnson was shown the black flag for jumping the final restart while he was fighting for victory with Montoya, who was leading the event at that point.

Johnson secures fourth All-Star win
May 19th, 2013
Jimmie Johnson recovered from his qualifying mistakes to take the $1 million NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star race for a second straight year and the fourth time in his career. Such a result looked unlikely when Johnson overshot the Hendrick pit and then received a penalty for a missing lugnut during Friday’s qualifying session .

May 4th, 2013
Carl Edwards will start from NASCAR Sprint Cup pole at Talladega by virtue of his practice performance after rain forced the cancellation of Saturday’s qualifying session.

April 26th, 2013

Kenseth defeats Kahne at Kansas
April 21st, 2013
Matt Kenseth held off a late challenge from Kasey Kahne to take his second NASCAR Sprint Cup victory of the year at Kansas Speedway. Polesitter Kenseth dominated much of the race in his Joe Gibbs Toyota, leading 163 of the 267 laps. He was untouchable until almost half-distance, when divergent pit and tyre strategies among a number of yellows jumbled the lead pack.
Kenseth beats Roush cars to pole
April 19th, 2013
Matt Kenseth set a new track record at Kansas Speedway to claim pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race. Kenseth put in a 28.145s lap in his Joe Gibbs Toyota to push the Roush Fenway Fords of Carl Edwards and Ricky Stenhouse Jr to second and third. Practice pacesetter Edwards had only just knocked his team-mate off pole before Kenseth took top spot with the penultimate run of the session.
Get to Know . . . Guy Driggers (Part II)
by David Ifeguni on April 15th, 2013
Last week in the first part of my interview with the 22 year old Guy Driggers, we discussed his sim-racing career, and his feelings on it up until now. This week, we talked about his painting career in racing, how he started painting, who he has painted for, and why he loves to paints race cars. So sit back, read, and get to know the “colorful” side of Guy Driggers… Q: How did you get started in sim painting? A: I can trace my sim-painting roots back to 2006, but I didn’t actually start until June of ’08 when NASCAR ’09 came out on the consoles. The biggest feature of the game was the capability to design a paint scheme on the computer and then upload it to use in [...]

April 13th, 2013
Kyle Busch denied his brother Kurt a first pole in two years as he snatched the top spot late in NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying at Texas Motor Speedway. The Joe Gibbs Toyota driver’s pole lap of 27.509 seconds was a new record for the track.
Johnson takes record Martinsville pole
April 5th, 2013

The Art and Physics of iRacing’s Gen-6
by David Phillips on March 25th, 2013
As the saying goes, “art imitates life.” Or is it the other way around? Does life imitate art? In the case of iRacing’s Gen-6 Chevy SS and Ford Fusion, it’s both. Read on . . . Just two days after Jimmie Johnson drove his new Generation-6 Chevrolet SS to victory in 2013 Daytona 500 on February 26, iRacing released its digital version of the Gen-6 Chevy. A little more than a week later, iRacing made its Gen-6 Ford Fusion available and, on March 8, Jason Karlavige drove iRacing’s virtual Chevy SS to victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the top-rated split of the new NASCAR iRacing Series. No matter how you cut it, making a digital version of the new platform for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series available a [...]
Get to Know: Steven Eszenyi
by David Ifeguni on March 25th, 2013
If you look up improvement or persistent in the dictionary, you’ll probably find a picture of Steven Eszenyi. Steven has been on iRacing since July of 2010. Statistically, he didn’t get off to a very great start. In 2010 he ran 217 oval races and three road races, and although he won a total of 17 times, his average incidents per race on the oval side was 8.21 and on the road side, 18.66. The 17 year old driver from Trumbull, Connecticut has definitely had a long and a rather messy road towards being one of the top drivers on the oval side of iRacing. In 2012, in Eszenyi’s words, “(I) decided to take this seriously” and he definitely got results. He started 931 oval races and earned 157 checkered [...]

March 24th, 2013
Kyle Busch snatched victory in the Fontana NASCAR Sprint Cup race as bitter foes Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin collided fighting for the lead on the last lap. Former Joe Gibbs Racing team-mates Hamlin and Logano, the latter now at Penske, had become embroiled in a fierce row after a tangle at Bristol a week ago. They then ended up head to head for victory at Fontana, beginning the final lap side by side, only to clash at Turn 3

Edwards ends victory drought
March 3rd, 2013
Carl Edwards ended a barren run stretching back to March 2011 by winning the season’s second NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix. Edwards beat erstwhile leader Dale Earnhardt Jr out of the pits in the final stops, then nursed his fuel load to the finish to win for the first time since Las Vegas two years and 70 races ago. Going into the closing laps, the Roush Fenway Ford had Jimmie Johnson’s Hendrick Chevrolet and Brad Keselowski’s Penske Ford hunting it down as the entire field tried to save fuel.
Martin secures Phoenix pole
March 2nd, 2013
Mark Martin secured the 56th pole of his NASCAR Sprint Cup career at Phoenix International Raceway on Friday.
Johnson: Crash must prompt changes
February 26th, 2013
Daytona 500 winner Jimmie Johnson believes NASCAR needs to learn from the accident in last weekend’s Nationwide Series race that left several fans injured, although he urged against any knee-jerk reactions. Thirty-three fans were injured when pieces of Kyle Larson’s car flew into the spectator area following a multi-car accident on the final lap of Saturday’s race, prompting renewed questions about the level of protection offered by the barriers at some oval tracks
